I have a pair of ElCons that I bought from Hollywood Electrics back in the day.  I have them mounted on Givi compatible plates in enclosures, and ran them with the stock charger on my '14SR to achieve 6kW+.  Now that I have digi-Now rig installed, I no longer have use for the ElCons, unless I can find the aux port on my '13FX...  I'd consider breaking up the set if I get a reasonable offer for one ElCon!

General Discussion / Re: Zero's keys

So I bought two Zadi blank keys for about $5 total, with plans to get copies of my '14SR ignition key cut at Ace Hardware...  They inform me that they can't/won't cut keys for which they don't provide the blank.  The locksmith they recommended said "$50 to cut them".  Any better ideas?  I mean I own a Dremel tool, and will try that before dropping fifty bucks.  No, I don't have the code.  Argh. :(

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Dreaded Firmware bug bricked my 2014.
« on: September 23, 2019, 12:01:44 AM »
So I took my 'new' bike in today to get it looked at and fix the whining firmware issue.

...And they bricked it.  The mainboard has to be sent back to Zero and reset or replaced outright.

Apparently in the next most recent version of their software on some old 2014s there's a chance for it to lose communications while updating.

So I'm out my now daily driver and I don't have a ride home ^-^

Ohwell.

Make sure the shop has updated their software and is up on all the warnings from Zero!  Zero forgot to tell BMW San Jose that.

I had a similar experience there with my '14SR firmware update; they provided me with a BMW G310 loaner overnight, and had my SR back up the next day.

First time an update cost $45; they had always been covered by Zero before...

(My Zero phone app [Android] still crashes upon downloading a log file...)

I would be VERY careful using this on an SR.
I have used Kill A Watts and various other similar
units for EV Charging over the years. All of which had
less draw than the SR. Even the heaviest duty Kill A Watts
I have tried would burn out.
I've burnt out a couple of Kill-a-Watt units myself.  Switched to the Wireless model, which has more robust contacts; added a WiFi enabled switch, which ccan be programmed to turn on/off at certain times or for certain durations.  Good for starting a charge when off-peak TOU rates apply, e.g. @11:00PM!

Previous version allowed me to email the logs from my '13FX, but they would not parse.  New version crashes after downloading the log, never gets to the "Send Email" screen!

...Regarding 0% coasting regen not really being zero per cent: I know what a coasting ICE moto feels like, having owned several, and the Zero at 0% has more drag. Someone who understands the drive motor may be able to explain it, but it does seem the the setting of "0% coasting regen" is actually "single digit % coasting regen", or "same drag as single digit coasting regen".
[/quote]
There is drag due to magnetic "cogging" of the rotor even when no regeneration is being done, unlike an ICE unit in neutral!

You had me at:

- It has the right places for the drop bars / crash bars to join to just like the stock pan.

I'm sold (if it works for 2016 SRs).

ME TOO!!

Happy with the new seat!

Just as a heads up Corbin is doing 10% off his seats this next week at his rally in Hollister. We (digiNow) will have a booth there on Friday and Saturday next to his EV station with some stuff to show off. Come check out our new belly pans!

Getting my seat built & C/2 charging the old-school way...  having removed the plastics in anticipation of installing digiNow's on the sides!  The black anodizing didn't hold up over four years of parking toward the east at work... gotta get some black spray paint!?

I realize that this post outs me as a total newb ignoramus:
How does checking these various readouts change how your ride and care for your Zero? (Not asking about the bugs and fails, I get that.)
Thanks
The Zero app allow you to adjust certain parameters affecting performace, e.g. regen, max torque, top speed, etc.

Knowing that you can go twice as far at 50MPH as you can at 70MPH has the biggest effect on how I ride when going beyond the range of a single charge!

After the first FW update on my 2014 SR, the kW hrs used was zero'd out, and it still does not log any power usage.  Any ideas how that happened?

I happened to made video about it:

Bless your heart!  Thanks, that will save a bunch of time wondering how...   :)

« on: June 13, 2018, 10:23:49 AM »
I recently bought two Zero rain guards, one for my daughter and one for myself, and both were missing some small parts.  One was missing the two small washers that fit between the plastic spacers and their securing screws.  The other rain guard was missing not only the washers, but also one of the plastic spacers.  So if you purchase one of these rain guards from Zero, check to be sure that all of the parts have been included in the sealed bags when you pick them up. It looks like someone was getting sloppy when the guard kits were packaged at the (likely Chinese) factory that supplied them to Zero.  :(

I recently purchased the Zero Rainguard, and it came without any installation hints.  Are there any actual instructions out there?
