I thought it looked amazing from the side but was disappointed when I saw the front view.  The flat sides either side of the headlight are odd.

I was caught out in the same way as MrDude.  There is an awful lot of hyperbole about the mind melting acceleration of the SR.  So i expected a lot and was disappointed when I got mine.  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love riding my SR and wouldn't go back to an ICE but comparing the acceleration to a litre bike is ridiculous and should be discouraged because it gives false expectations.  The first time I opened up the SR it was great fun and i did it over and over.  The first time i really opened up a ZX-6R I had to slow down for the next 10 minutes until I stopped shaking from the adrenaline.  It's a different world.

Apparently a Lightning really does accelerate like a litre bike though. EV's are already at and beyond ICE performance if you can afford it.

Welcome.  It's a great bike that comes with membership of a great community, enjoy.

I have got pretty good at judging speed based on motor/belt whine and wind noise now.  It's probably easier at the lower speeds I'm riding at (40mph speed limit) as wind noise is generally less of a factor.

I remember on my 2012 S, a few years ago, I was out at the pub in a storm one evening and rode home with a fairly continuous 40mph tailwind. When it was directly behind me the wind cancelled out and it was almost completely silent with only the motor  noise.  If the wind was off at a diagonal it was whistling in resonating through the tubes in the frame.  That was pretty cool.

The first time I stopped at a junction and heard birds singing was pretty neat too, that never gets old!

Even if people don't eventually order, it's a useful $300 million interest free loan to get production going.

I ride in all weather but it's a mild climate so rarely below freezing. Sounds like the Rosso II are the ones to go for. Are they OK in the wet?

Im not sure about the Diablo Rosso II as they are sports bike tyres and therefore difficult to get hot on the road.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Tyres for lower speed riding
« on: April 02, 2016, 11:45:27 PM »
I tried some spirited riding on the IRC's  (2014 SR) today, now that the weather is improving, and felt like i was about to die at every turn so its definitely time for some new tyre that isnt shaped like a car tyre.

I live on a small island, 9 miles by 5 miles, so I need a tyre that heats up fast because most runs are 6 miles or less each way.  It's also a lot of hard acceleration and tight winding corners so I am more concerned with grip than tyre life (generally I get double the range from a tyre than someone on the mainland because there is no highway riding) but I commute year round so it needs to be safe in the wet.  On my KTM I actually ran a road legal race wet on the front and an intermediate rear and that was perfect, incredibly confidence inspiring.  However the SR is too heavy for those and they don't come in the right sizes.

I see that I can get a ContiAttack SM in the right size so I wonder if they would work or if the SR is again too heavy.  It's worth pointing out that i weigh 60kg with my riding gear on so as a package its probably still quite light.  Or do i stick with the tried and tested DR II?

Thanks!

If it would allow downgearing of the SR, I'm in.

Don't use dishwashing liquid as some brands contain salt, which isnt good for the fasteners that already rust very rapidly.  Get some cheap car shampoo.

It's your own fault for buying a windows phone!
Sorry couldn't resist, I hate windows anything!
You should have stuck to the main 2 you mentioned.

I was an OSX and then Linux nerd but I have a Windows 10 Phone now (older Lumia 930 on insider programme) and it is very good.  Still a bit buggy as it is a beta, but the UI is miles ahead of android in terms of usability imo, and i've owned plenty of those.  Never owned an iPhone though.

Doubt they will ever make a windows app qorw as they arent updating the iOS or Android ones.  Just get an android phone or iPod touch from a friend or relative, guaranteed they will have plenty gathering dust in draws.

Getting S wheels and a brake kit to Israel would probably be expensive, so personally I would go with the FXS unless you plan to do some off roading?
