Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / S model - Front and rear stands
« on: July 03, 2023, 06:38:19 AM »
Are there any spools or stands you guys recommend for lifting the front or rear of the S model? I'm about to pull the trigger on one with an L bracket for the frame but I'd rather get spools or something more secure, especially for the front

Parts, Mods And Hacks / 3D printable J1772 mounting bracket
« on: March 19, 2023, 08:02:54 PM »
Just a simple 3D printed mounting bracket that mounts behind the left passenger footpeg. Designed for the S model, but I'm sure it can be modified for other bikes as well.

I originally made this for the diginow chargers (hence the two toggle switch mounting points) but I've also included a non-toggle switch file as well for those who just have the Zero J1772 adapter or other setup. I've also included the original Blender file in case anyone wants to modify it easily.

Best printed with ABS, Nylon, and I'm still testing NylonX carbon filament.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Diginow and aftermarket charger question
« on: February 26, 2023, 08:03:43 PM »
It was my understanding that, for whatever reason, only 2 diginow chargers (or 3.3kw chargers) could be used at a time via the AUX port on the read of the bike. And the third charger has to be connected directly to the battery controller.

Then I just watched New Zeroland's video and he's using 3 connected at the same time. Is this possible to do with the diginow chargers? Or was I mistaken with my initial assessment that only 2 could be connected at a time?

My ULTIMATE end goal is to have the diginow pack installed, and then a charge tank. If this is even feasible.

Parts, Mods And Hacks / Headligh options for S models
« on: October 15, 2022, 08:42:41 PM »
Let's be real. The S model headlights are bad. Not the style, but the bulbs. Sure you can upgrade the bulb, but the reflectors inside weren't meant for LED upgrades. So I'm looking for something newer, a projector bulb maybe. What styles do you guys think would fit with the S model's style? I was thinking an OEM KTM or MT-07 or MT-09.

For those with custom added chargers, like the Diginow pan or the elcon chargers, where are you putting your J1772 charge ports? I'm about to roll the bike into the living room to install the diginow pan, but I realized my custom 3D brackets for my charge ports might need some re-working, but I'd also like to see other ideas for better locations. I'm actually thinking about just trying to shove both ports into the storage tank.

General Discussion / Refurbishing Nissan Leafs
« on: March 20, 2022, 11:13:20 PM »
Are there any companies based in the US doing any battery refurbishing on Nissan Leafs? I saw a video about them being done in the UK, getting 250-ish miles out of new batteries put into the old first generation bodies. Since old leafs can be gotten for around $10k I'm thinking it'd be pretty cool to have a refurbished one.

-edit-
Found one. https://leosons.com/nissan-leaf-battery-upgrade-frequently-ask-questions/

Pricey, but still pretty cheap. I'm wondering if there are any other upgrades that can be done, like faster chargers.

Simple question. I'm about to install the 3 diginow pan charger and I"m 3D printing some mounting brackets for the j1772 ports. But I'm having a hard time figuring out a clean place to mount the switches. So I might extend the cables, but instead of extending the cables can I just eliminate the switches altogether? Just twist the cables together. Don't the chargers engage when the j1772 charger is plugged in?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Check engine light after repairs
« on: December 25, 2021, 12:49:23 AM »
Story time. Back in September I had a mishap. I had to replace the throttle, a turn signal, and front brake cylinder assembly.

The bike is all buttoned back up and it works. I can ride it. But there's a check engine light that wont go away. The bike charges, all electricals work, bluetooth connects. But I don't know how to see what's wrong.

I emailed myself the logs, and parsed them online: https://home.hasslers.net/zerologparser/logs/538SMLZ62MCG15637_MbbD_2021-12-24.txt

Can anyone assist in showing me how I can find out what error's it's throwing?

-edit-
I dont want to throw out a misleading red hering, but when I started it last week and rolled it forward I dont recall the engine light being on. This was also before I worked on the brakes. Could ABS be throwing the code?

-edit 2-

Apparently you can see codes on the instrument cluster. No codes are showing there (aside from the kickstand and kill switch, codes 44 and 45 which are temporary)

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2019+ SDS Front bleeder valve size
« on: December 21, 2021, 03:39:15 AM »
I can't seem to find what size of bleeder valve is in the S & SR models for the front calipers. AF1 racing has the parts diagram and it says part # PA-182. However, AF1 turns up nothing when searching for that. When I look up the jjuan caliper assembly, it's part 25-07686 . However, that doesn't turn up any details on the valve sizes.

Do any of you know if these are a standard size? Or what size they would be?

Parts, Mods And Hacks / Aftermarket brake bleed valves
« on: December 20, 2021, 07:10:03 PM »
So I just tried to bleed the brakes this weekend. Had to order a vacuum pump because the traditional method wasn't working well. No matter what size tube I was using, it wasn't tight enough.

So I'm wondering if any of you have ever tried those "easy bleed" one way valves, or have any other suggestions. I finally got the brakes bled...but DAMN I made such a mess and would like to avoid that in the future.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Brake pedal wobble
« on: December 12, 2021, 07:48:06 AM »
I have an SR and I'm repacing the brake pedal and it's probably stupid, but is it supposed to have wobble/play in it? Or is it supposed to be super stiff? When all is said and done and it's all bolted together and torqued down, the pedal wiggles a tiny bit side to side. Does anyone else's do this?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / S triple clamp replacement
« on: December 12, 2021, 02:18:46 AM »
Does anyone have a guide or instructions on removing the triple clamp? Part number 22-07622

Nothing is as easy as it looks, and it looks like it's just one (or three?) nuts to remove.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Protection for S models

Besides the crash bars, what sort of protection can I get for the S model? Are there any bar end sliders or frame sliders?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / S red color for newer models
« on: November 10, 2021, 08:13:14 PM »
I was wondering if the Duplicolor Toyota (Barcelona Red) was the same color Zero uses for the red plastics. I know the zero wiki has the color code, but duplicolor and other spray can products don't go by codes as far as I know.

I'm slightly colorblind so telling me to paint a practice piece and see if it matches won't work for me.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Throttle replacement for SR
« on: October 10, 2021, 03:17:43 AM »
So I took a spill and the throttle and grip got a little messed up. yadda yadda yadda, it needs replaced. Is this something the dealer has to replace or can I do it?
I already have the parts I need in my cart on AF1 racing, but before I pull the trigger on a $200 part I'd like to know if i'm wasting my time. I don't know if it's plug and play, or if the dealer will need to do any weird calibrations with the controller.

It may seem like a simple question, but I'm learing there's a lot to these bikes that aren't end-user friendly (Like the New Zeroland channel has discussed)
