Hi,

I am an owner of a 2020 DSR bike. Recently I have noticed a decreased range of about 10-15% (after 4 years but only 15.000km).

I have always treated the battery very carefully (never < 20%, only charge to 100% when need a long travel (usually only 80%), no 100% storage, no charging when hot, etc etc etc...)
A 10% of decreased capacity could be acceptable, but my main concern is that if I stop the bike at 28% and wait for some hours, the SoC raises to 44% (magic charging).

I am very worried that it will completely fail after the 5 year warranty and I want to claim zero for a new battery under warranty, and then sell the bike if that does not happen.

What are your thoughts? Is zero replacing batteries when magic charging is happening??? (It has never happened before the 4 years of use).

Thanks all in advance for your comments.
Cheers.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Whistle sound on Zero DSR 2020
« on: September 08, 2022, 07:49:27 PM »
Hi!

Today I have just noticed a whistle sound on my zero dsr 2020 coming from the motor. It is a high pitch noise, loud, similar to a lead synth that changes pitch with the speed.

It is noticeable between 20-50 kph and specially when coasting and deccelerating. It was not before as I know the sounds of my bike very well…

I thought it could be a wind noise but I have checked and it is directly related to motor rpm and not speed. It happens also when coasting down the road. I have not tried with the bike off yet.

It has 10.000km. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

Edited: I have just tried to switch off the bike while it is doing the noise and it goes completely away… so it is coming from the controller or the motor, probably the controller as it sounds even when not accelerating.

I thinks it is not but... could it be something similar to this? https://zeromanual.com/wiki/Motor_Whine

Hi!

I am unable to update my dsr firmware. The app says there is a new version but when trying to update a "corrupted download" message appears at the bottom of my iphone and nothing happens... it is not even trying to update the firmware. The download is failing.

Do you know what to do?

thanks!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / DSR 2021 vs DSR 2020
« on: March 07, 2021, 03:44:08 AM »
Hi!

I just noticed on zero's site that the new 'SR' Models (SR and DSR) now offers 157nm torque with same motor (vs 145nm on 2020 models), 1hp more (xD) and same top speed.

Do you know why this increase using the same motor and specs?

Thanks!

P.D: Just noticed that the 2021's manuals also shows 146nm and 69hp... so I am confused about web site specs :D

Hi!

My local dealer has decided to finish their business with zero (because of the current economic situation) and the closest dealer I can go is +250km...

I have done almost 7000km with my dsr 2020 and it is time for the first big maintenance check. I have learnt to adjust the belt by myself and I swapped the tires recently so I am only concerned about the electronic checks the dealer must accomplish.

Zero says that they are waiting for other dealer to open a shop near my city but they don't know when this will happen... or if it will happen...

Can you please tell me if I should stop using my bike or if I can continue even if I get 10.000km before this check? My only chance is to rent a truck to bring the bike to the closest dealer.

Thanks, as usual!
Regards.

Hi!

I have noticed that my DSR 2020 is not showing some SoC Values in the display. It jumps from 85 to 83 and from 82 to 80. I also noticed that when at 80% and after some small regen it jumped back to 82%.

Is this normal? Something to worry about? Should I discharge the battery almost completely to force a re-balance? The logs don't show any problem and I am not noticing a decrease in total battery life.

P.D: I have checked some old logs and those values are there (81% and 84%) so this behaviour is new.
P.D2: I have just checked more recent log, and all values are there. It is just the display is not showing them... round error?

Thanks!
Regards,
Luis.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Aligning front mudguard of DSR
« on: November 24, 2020, 10:58:49 PM »
Hi!

Today I noticed the front mudguard is not perfectly perpendicular to the handlebars. The problem is only with the mudguard, the fork, light and wheel are all perfectly aligned.

Do you know it it is possible to adjust the alignment of the front mudguard? Is it as simple as loosening the four bolts from the bottom and trying to align it correctly? Or once it is installed it cannot be properly aligned?

Thanks!!!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / When to replace tyres?
« on: November 22, 2020, 02:54:25 PM »
Hi!

I have never had a motorcycle where the rear tyre life is so short xD

I see a lot of difference between rear and front tyre so I would like to ask you if you think my rear tyre is near the end of its life or how many km do you think it will last (if any...). Can you please take a look at my pictures and give me some advice? (only 6000km on the zero dsr). The TWI indicator is still intact.

Many thanks!!!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Touch up pen for DSR gold wheel
« on: August 27, 2020, 12:02:39 AM »
Hi!

Today I noticed a small scratch on my rear wheel (DSR 2020). It is the gold wheel the latest DSRs fit.

Do you know of any gold touch up pen that is a good match? I have used touch up pens with cars and bike frames with more or less good results so I think that this can be fixed pretty easily but can't find a matching color.

Thanks!!!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Rear axle nut tighten torque
« on: August 20, 2020, 02:23:27 PM »
Hi!

Today I was doing some periodic maintenance on my dsr 2020 and noticed the belt was a little loose. So I just adjusted it to correct tension.

After that, I was tightening the rear axle nut as usual with my torque wrench to 73.5 lb/ft as stated in the manual (I have done this several times during this year when I was learning to adjust the belt tension), but this time I had to tighten more than usual. What I mean is that the white mark that Zero puts on the nut is now not aligned with the mark on the axle and it has gone 1/8 or 1/16 of more turn than usual to reach the required torque. I know that's a very small difference but it never happened before.

Is this normal? Any problem? I have tried loosening and tightening again a couple of times and it always reaches the same spot now.

thanks!

Hi!

I have just recorded an audio clip of my dsr front pulley/motor sound noise. I think that the noise has increased the volume and pitch for the last couple of months.

I have checked the belt because I adjusted it 4 months ago and it was running very smooth with no vibrations. It looked a little too tight (but inside specs) so I decided to loose it a little bit. Now it is only sounding when accelerating and not very noticeable when coasting, but still there.

Please take a listen and let me know what you think. The noise I am referrring to can be clearly heared at 3-12s and at 20-26s

Thanks

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Zero DSR Real range uphill
« on: July 02, 2020, 02:59:51 PM »
Hi!

I want to do a trip to the beach this weekend, and there is 90km of distance. I can charge the bike at the destination, but not along the way. The problem is that the return to home is uphill during all the 90km. The specs says that I should be able to travel 126km at 113 km/h. I have checked this on a flat road and it is more or less accurate, but what about uphill???

It is too risky? xD

Thanks!

Hi!

I have always liked the noise of my dsr motor. Sometimes I noticed other noises, like the belt running, or the front sprocket spinning when not accelerating (and then no motor noise).

But last week I think I am hearing that front sprocket spinning noise louder. I can hear it with the modular helmet closed, and I can't remember hearing it so before.

Do you know what noise I mean? That 'rrrrrrrr' that increases frequency together with speed that can be heared from the front sprocket. Classic transmission noise I guess.

Do you hear it too? The bike runs smooth and perfectly, so it is just a little annoying.

P.D: Looking for loose screws I had to tighten 3 screws from the left part of the body! The were 50% out! :S

I have lost one of the swingarm plastic caps, the ones at the motor axle... (I still wonder how...).

Do you know where can I get an exact replacement? Thanks!!!
