I find the new 2013 zero really attractive, but i dont have the money to get one... and i already have a 2011 DS with low milleage.
so the solution?... Bring my DS2011 the look a 2013 S but with some of my own add on =)
Here is what it will look like !:
I will replace the 2011 seat and gas tank fairing, adjust the suspension for lower height, add 5kWh of LiFePo4 high current battery and replace the controller for a kelly 90V 600A that i will drive at 84V)
I might also add sme headway cylindrical blue cells for another 10Ah and for the look on each side of the actual battery.
I dont want to spend $$$ on the new rim so i will add some decal to the spokes and that will "simulate" the look of the multi branches 2012 rims =)
What do you think?

Very nice Doc.
Usually, the best bike in the world is the one that you own!
-
Nice idea Doc but i think the decals on the spokes would look awful. What about painting the rims? maybe a split rim design?
-
yeah I agree with the spokes and decal... maybe too stupid idea ???
I already have the balck rim ( but with spokes) maybe they could give a great look?

Guys, it's in progress!
About 65% completed !
It's taking ALOT of time to make every parts to fit together but with time and patience everything become a prefect match
I spent an entire weekend just to make the 2013 zero seat to fit the 2011 zero frame. ( the goal was to NOT cut any part of the frame that is usefull for the strengh of the frame structure)
The most difficult was to cut some area under the seat foam to match the two aluminum bar of the 2011 zero frame. Than i had to cut the hole of the 2013 "gas" tank to remove some deep from it to not have any interference with the 2011 MBB and electrical connections location. The hole is made to insert a bag that complete the top shape of the "gas" tank.
I also relocated the rear brake light and turn signal. The look is alot better!
After i replaced the 4x turn signal for the new 2012-2013 clear model, the flashing frequency was like 4 time faster due to the lower load that the new bulb have so instead of adding the famous resistor in parallel with the bulb, i solved the problem at the source! I opened the flasher relay and found a 92Kohm smt resistor that determine the flash rate and i replaced it by a 220Kohm and it flash at the perfect speed now!
I also had to cut the rear top fairing on the rear of the seat to match the shape of the seat.
here is some pics of the work.

Wasn't sure how that'd turn out. Looks like it's turning out well!

Great to see you evolving your bike to higher performance, will be looking good Doc, but can you edit your post, lots of typos, makes my brain hurt. :)

Excellent work Doc!

Nice job, don't mind your English I have the same problem and hope everyone is indulgent with us :-[
I like the look, have done some modification with my 2012 DS and would like to convert the front fender too, we had already a take about and now I see you have done.
How did it fit and what fender(model) do you use?
What is your front wheel size?
I am afraid the diameter where the fork seal sit, is bigger than the fender and would scrub. Did it fit our is it cut out?
How it the weather in Canada when is your first test ride!

Absolutely. You two both have fantastic information and neither of you are difficult to understand.

I bought the fairing from a good Zero Dealer in Holywood ( 2013 zero S gas tank and seat and clear turn signal) and bougt the 2012 zero S front fender from someone else.
I plan on replacing the headlight for the 2012 smaller model but some friend of mine find the stock 2011 round headlight very cool too So I am not decided yet
What is your front wheel size?
Both rear and front wheel are the stock 2011 zero DS size with spokes ( 17 front and 16 rear)
I am afraid the diameter where the fork seal sit, is bigger than the fender and would scrub. Did it fit our is it cut out?
Well Yes the fork seal larger diameter are having interference with the front fender sides. I have not corrected that yet because I will also install my 5kWh LifePO4 battery ( about 100 pounds) on it and the suspension will drop a bit and the seal will no longer interfere with the fender =)
How it the weather in Canada when is your first test ride!
Well the weather is very good this week ( about 15-20 degree C this week for the spring season) and the ride are very cool!. There is a bit of wind sometime but I can live with that.
I will add a screen for protecting from the wind. It will also save few Wh energy

Thanks for your information, I have ordered the SummerScreen hope it will arrive soon. Most of the morning temp was 5-7°C the last three weeks.

Maybe I should put some stones under my tank ;D
