Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / No NAV on 2020 SRF? New battery
« on: January 19, 2024, 11:47:14 PM »
Hello all, I’ve been very fortunate to get a new battery under warranty. I also have my dashboard updated and got the parking mode installed. I was under the impression that I could get turned by turn guidance also, but the dealership is telling me that that is only available on 2021 or later models? Anyone have any experience with this? Why should 2021 be different than 2020?

Here is a quick video I made of the issues I am having with my 2020 SR/F premium:

Briefly, the battery drops like a rock when riding, then has massive magic charge. I can only go 27 miles now on a single charge, but can get 120 miles out of the battery if I just do short trips each day. Also the estimated time to charge is way off and the bike will just sit at it's target but keep charging.

Anyway, I plan to head to Zero in the fall (dealership is quite a trip) so I will update everyone then.

Thanks,
G

I usually rent the Uhaul motorcycle trailer but that thing is huge and I need a one way rental which they don't do.

I just bought this:

Anyone with experience with it? Is this a terrible idea? I have a 2008 Jeep Patriot Limited with a 2" tow hitch.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Will I qualify for a new SRF battery?
« on: April 24, 2023, 10:37:33 PM »
Hello all,

I’ve seen several posts on people getting battery replacements. Here is a rundown of what I have been experiencing. My dealer is 350 miles away so before going I thought I’d poll this audience.

2020 SR/F, demo
Updated all firmware
Bike lunges due to regen dis activation at 98-100% charge
Bike says it will fully charge in 3 hours at 1.3, but then sits at “100%” or whatever I set it at for several hours after and is obviously still charging

Most concerning, if I am at 40% or below and get on the highway going over 60, SOC drops like a rock. Once it puts me at the limiter and I pull over, it magic charges upwards of 25% over the next hour.

Zero asked for my logs but is essentially saying take it to the dealer. I want to wait until at least winter (warrantee good until 10/24).

Any feedback or experience would be very useful.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / How to replace both tires on SRF
« on: May 30, 2022, 03:11:01 AM »
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't find it. I see a video of how to remove the rear wheel on Youtube, but can't find anything on the front. I don't have a way of lifting the bike yet so if I am going to buy something I want to be able to do both wheels.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Remote connect cellular
« on: February 20, 2022, 09:49:50 PM »
So I have yet to upgrade my firmware beyond version 17 due to paranoia. The bike runs fine. However, I have not been able to use the cellular function for sometime. The tab for remote connect is available, however when I click on it it shows me a location of my bike which is several months old. In addition it does not update any information on the bike when looking at the app. Is there a fix for this without having to update the firmware?

A guy hit my parked bike and knocked it over while the steering lock was on. It fell to the side of the turned handlebars. At first I thought it was just some superficial damage (broken mirror, scratched fly screen, and HUD bent a bit) but now I think the handlebar/front wheel might be ever so slightly off. I can’t tell if it’s just the bent screen or if I am having to hold the bars slightly to the left to go straight.

How can I check this? I can’t seem to bend the metal which holds the HUD back to true and honestly that is so subtle it’s no big deal, but if the handlebar alignment is off I want to address that right away.

Any thoughts?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Should I update to v19?
« on: July 03, 2021, 11:58:19 PM »
My bike is running fine on v17. No magic charging, although I expected longer ranges (SRF getting 80 miles going 70, 100 miles going 40-50).

Any upside in updating? I am going to dealer this weekend for 4K service, do I tell them not to update it?

Thanks,
G

Hello again,

So I had posted previously about this and the issue kind of self resolved but has now returned, so I am concerned.

2020 SRF, 4000 miles
Plug into 110V outlet with provided cord, clicking from plug, no whirring, then red light on charger.

This happened last time I got below 25%. Bike is at 22% right now. Last time it charged on a 6kW clipper creek when this happened and then suddenly worked on my outlet after being off for a day.

It’s reading 96F on ambient temp outside.

Firmware 17, battery pack ver 14, updates won’t work and I couldn’t get it to update last time through bike or phone:((

I’m taking it to dealer 7/9 for 4000k service and recalls so if there is anything that needs fixing that would be the time since dealer is a 6 he drive.

Errors 19, 21, 35, 38, 39 but can’t tell when they are from, first time I have checked in a while.

Thanks in advance,
G

Hi all,

I have my 4000k service coming up. I live quite far so it’s a whole trip. I want to have them do the brake light recall service as well as the 4000 k service. I’ve also heard of people getting some insulation done on the bus to prevent water from messing things up. What do I ask for them to do regarding this last issue?

Thanks in advance

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / SR/F charging problem:(
« on: May 16, 2021, 10:17:43 PM »
SR/F Charging problem!

This am I plugged in the bike using a 110v, and the outlet/plug clicked and the red light turned on. The whir of the charger on the bike did not occur. I tried several outlets, no dice.

Then I rode to a local clipper creek charger, one failed to power up, the second got the bike to charge, but again no whir.

I tried several 110v outlets around town, same issue, a click, red light, and charging screen on but not charging. Please tell me this is a power cord issue, my dealer is 400mi away:(

Sorry if this has been answered. I've heard the SR/S footpegs are lower than SR/F. So my questions are:

1. Is that true, and if so, by how much?
2. Can I swap them out?
3. What would that entail, is it easy, and can I order the parts and do it myself?

Thanks everyone for this great forum,
G

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / SR/F Corbin heated seat ordered
« on: May 14, 2020, 05:03:12 AM »
I pulled the trigger and ordered one. I went for the heated version, with chocolate brown seat/tan leather sides/tail and a red welt.

I’ll post some pics when I get it. Anyone out there have one?

Here are the instructions on how to replace the tank lid on the SRF. This is helpful if you're like me and live far from a dealer and they are willing to ship you the part.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Anyone replace SRF tank lid themselves?
« on: February 19, 2020, 10:58:17 PM »
I’m getting the new non-gapped tank apparatus in the mail since I am 350mi from the nearest dealer. Anyone do this themselves and if so have pics/instructions?
