Brammo Forum / BMS from Texas Instruments

Got the TI Newsletter some days ago.

There is a photo at the end showing the inside of the Battery.

Still in love with my Zero but the Brammo is an eyecatcher.

Dirt / Gas Gas Trial

I don't know if Trial is popular in the US but I sometimes play with the idea to have an electric Trial bike. I think electric is real perfect for this kind of bikes.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / How to use a Size 6 in a 2013
« on: June 16, 2013, 02:06:01 PM »
I have seen talks of using the size 6 in the 2013 models.

I couldn't see how the 2013 works up to now but have some experience with the 2012 and have done some thoughts what will happen if you try. I don't talk of can the motor sustain he current, is the belt able to withstand the force... I have no idea of it.

I see some serious problems with the new bluetooth!

I have to start with some basics of the Sevcon.
It has 3 tables inside to set the driveability profiles, its torque, neutral regen, braking regen, direction change regan... and all have rump (up and down) speeds and other parameter too.

The 3 profiles are named Baseline, Driveability 1 and Driveability 2.

Baseline is the setting that has the highest values you want in your system.

The two Driveability normally can only have lower values, if not they are limited by the Baseline profile.

Sevcon use at 2012 and I guess at 2013 the Baseline as SPOT-mode and Driveability 1 as ECO.
ECO has higher neutral- and brake-regen settings, therefore they do a reprogramming of the Sevcon on the fly!

The MBB send the password to the Sevcon read out the regen values and the ramp time. If it is different to the SPOT/ECO switch it will reprogamm the values STORED IN THE MBB :'( and close the reprogramming. If the switch is conform to the setting it will leave it untouched.

I believe the bluetooth is done in the same way only the values in the MBB are settable now (why to reinvent the wheel). BUT you can't change the max/min limits there, so it will be exciting to find out what the bluetooth will do with your new settings if you try to replace the Sevcon by a Size 6!

The only way I see at the moment (having never seen the programming of a 2013 nor the schematic) you can use a special software setting inside the Sevcon so it will not limit the Driveability 1 / 2 settings, than if you lucky and they still use Baseline and Driveability 1 you can use the Driveablity 1 input port and change it to Driveability 2 (it can be done in the Sevcon setting) now you can tune your settings in Driveability 2 without interference by the MBB; but SPORT mode will be as it was.

To do the hard way and hack the MBB to get control of the Values would be Fu... dangerous I would never put my life on such a bike :o. Maybe Harlan as a premium dealer will get save updates for a “tuning kit”. I am curious to see when he will come up with something like this but maybe the motor will not be able to hold and it will always be a dream?

If someone has more knowledge of it or ideas, questions I would really like to discuss it.

BTW it will not only be a topic with the Size 6 even if you would like to change something in the Size 4 it will maybe interfere. So does anyone know what values the bluetooth really change at the 2013 model.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2012 and older / 2012 DS/S Front Brake
« on: June 15, 2013, 10:19:42 PM »
We had some discussion hear and some think the brake is "lousy"  and some do Stopies!

I have  disassembled mine and it don't look to good!

There are 2 rubber seals one has a crack and the other was squeezed during installation and as a result the bold is total rusty.

Maybe more of us suffer of things like this.

I saw a 4x4 Center in my area is building a Jeep Wrangler Electric Project.

The comments are in German but I think the photos speak for themselves.

General Discussion / Blame to Europe!
« on: May 11, 2013, 03:28:38 PM »

I have sniffed around at http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/ and saw at “BUY” => “INCENTIVE”  there is the world map displaying what countries do for electricity.

I saw only some Austria states do something! unbelievable

If I think most German I know blame the US for doing to less for the environment. I think “Everyone should put his own house in order first.” and be not so arrogant.

I still look for a solution to spend my 2012 DS a front fender like a S model.

The problem the thick part of the fork is  moving at the position where the fender is. It will scratch...

Now I think the XU 2012 has a 90/90 R19 front wheel this is ~5cm more in diameter. Therefor the fender will be 2.5cm higher and maybe don't interfere with the fork.
Also it seams it is a 3 piece construction and with a bit work the height could be adjusted ( see photo )

The XU 2013 has a 100/90 R19 wheel and it would be 7cm =>3.5cm higher so both fender would help.

Unfortunately I don't know if the installation point has the same position (the photo gives this impression) and if the fork wide will fit.

Is there somebody who has experience with this and can help. I don't want to order with out information if it works.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Quick Charge 2013 DS/S
« on: May 05, 2013, 01:27:35 AM »
I just saw one Zero DS 2013 up to now at the exhibition, but couldn’t make out where to connect the second charger.

Does anyone use the quick charger option at a 2013 DS/S and let me know how it works.

THX

For me it is perfect so I have charger from Memmingen to München (Munich) the area the map shows is approx 100km
