Maybe it is luck (or lack thereof)*, both my last two belts lasted just 7k miles on ordinary roads at ordinary trundling speeds.

Cas :)

* "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all"
On which bike?  I recall a message here that the SR/F had a string of bad belts from the factory that was later fixed.

One more thing. When I get to where my Esse Esse 9 is located at my other home, I will check to see if the frame can be used as ground to measure the voltage on that fuse. And I will post here what that voltage should be.

That will be in two to three days from now.

On my SS9, I now have that fuse where it is very easy for me to check without taking the bike apart.

Thanks for the reply. Yes my Eva does have a 315mA glass fuse. In this case they had taped it into the wiring harness close to the main fuse block. The fuse tests OK with a multimeter. I've tested the voltage between the "engine block" and each side of the fuse holder but get 0V.

I've had a feel of the other taped-up wiring around where you pictured and can't find another fuse holder in there.

Thanks for replying, though, as I'd already seen another "won't turn on" thread where that fuse was to blame.

I'm at a loss for what to try now.
There must be voltage at that fuse on one side, even with bike off and not charging. So you're close to finding the problem--maybe. I cannot remember if that circuit uses the frame for the ground. I do not remember; it could be a floating ground.  But IIRC, the voltage at that fuse is what gives the power to turn the bike on when the switch is off. Won't charge, bike won't do anything without the voltage from that fuse.

Check the wires on the fuse holder itself. I have seen such where it is really only crimped on the insulation.

I expect you're very close to finding the problem.

Hi there,

Can I ask for advice please...

My Eva Ribelle has been stored in my garage since last ridden 9 months ago. It was plugged in to the charger and (I believe) in LPR mode throughout.

I came to ride it again this week now we have some good weather. It will not turn on. It has keyless start and I've tried with the main key (after replacing the battery) and green key. There is NO red blinking light on dashboard.

I've tested voltage at fuse 7 (keyless ignition) and get 0V. The little glass fuse is intact and I get 0V reading there too.

When I re-plug the charger in, it says it is waiting for the EV. Nothing lights up on the bike,

The bike is within battery warranty. The authorised dealer I purchased from (Not Your Average Bikes) is no longer in business.

What can I try next myself?

Thanks
I wonder if that bike also has the very hidden fuse that is not mentioned anywhere.  See my thread here.

…While I will use the OBC when away from home, when charging at home I now use Zero's Delta Q charger, which doesn't produce as much power and still gets pretty hot as you find out when you touch its cooling fins.
;)

Delta Q. Doesn’t that require using the Anderson connector on the right side of the bike which is such a PITA to access?
I have mine go to a "Y" cable that stays on the bike. Very easy to use.

Two of my Zeros are year 2017. I used those for the question.

I would say they are reasonably reliable.

In my DS, I needed a battery replacement under warranty. I also had to replace the front ABS sensor. That also happened during the warranty, but I purchased one from AF1 racing and did the work myself instead of dealing with the dealer.

I do not recall having any issues at all with my 2017 Zero SR.

Energica / Re: Magic Charging--Experia Style!!!
« on: May 27, 2024, 12:02:36 AM »
Energica really is still a startup and doesn't necessarily have the resources to throw at software when their core product is a physical machine. Ultimately despite being a startup the bikes they make feel more like bikes built with skill and passion by motorcyclists than the products of someone who approaches bikes like white goods or personal electronics so if the price for that is the attitude towards software of a legacy manufacturer I'm ok with that.
Yeah, I agree with all of that. But they did a much better job on the SW with my 2020 Esse Esse 9.

IMO, the Experia is still a great nice riding bike, just full of bugs that pop up on the screen which are mostly just a very minor nuisance.

5 min to charge 48% is quite ambitious.
Especially at a charge rate of 3KW. I just wish that were true.

My Experica has the new 43 FW, but it has more bugs now instead of less.

But nothing that takes away from the ride. All the bugs are with what is says on my display, except for the reverse issue (see below).

I still have all the older bugs such as "key not in range" and "bike is off, turn on to continue" as I am going down the freeway. Also, on the freeway "you may now remove the charging cable".  Also, sometimes in reverse, motor will die with an "undefined fault".

Since my FW update to 43, there has been a couple of new bugs.

One new bug was today during a 250-mile ride. I noticed my screen said I was at 64% SOC for 25 miles or so until I stopped and restarted the bike. Also, I had regen, but no regen indication from the line that normally goes down to show regen,  Also, no power indication, no line going up. No line at all. But the bike was running fine.

And when I got home, the "magic charging", Experia style, where it says I can charge at 3 KW and gain 48% SOC in five minutes.

FWIW, my Esse Esse 9 has no bugs and I find that screen easier to use. It has the 42 update, as high as my 2020 can accept.

Just had mine done this morning, then ran some errands on the way back, so a few key cycles.

No new issues with my Experia, reverse works fine.  Only new thing I noticed is the menu on the main screen seems to go from the only "settings/preferences/diagnostics" to "settings/handgrips" choices, not sure if its speed related or what causes it to change.  Obviously handgrips menu is new.  I haven't charged it yet to see how much "EXTIMATED" time it will take...  ::)
I have no "new" issues since V43, just that it fixed none of my old issues. Still has lots of bugs.

I have only ridden my Experica a few times since the update, but it was enough to see all the old bugs.

IIRC, the "heated grips" selection goes away at stops or very low speeds.  I assume that is intended.

The first update with the new app version takes a dealer, then we can do our own.
Just as I assumed. But did the update do anything useful?

I have my SR 2017 ( I bought it new in July 2017)

And I was NEVER able to update it yet. I tried many times over the 7 last years without any succes, New gen app or old gen app.

But guess what??  IT WORK LIKE A CHARM since the begining.. and it dont realy need any update so I realy dont care about remaining to the old original Firmware. It work perfect and i can recahrge my battery at t13é2kW during 1005 time and I can still do 230km with a single charge since the begining!

So.. I really dong give a f*** about the firmware update.. I really thing it woudl just make it running all sort of problems.. si when it work... Just dont touch it!! ;)

Doc
Were you aware that your first update MUST be done at a Zero dealer?  After that, you can do all the updates yourself.

I think the same thing is happening again, that the first update needs to be done at dealer because of the new app.

But yeah, if all seems to be working fine, why bother?  Probably it's mainly about the shop making a little money on electric motorcycle service, since they cannot do engine oil changes on Zeros and need to make up for that. So they change the FW version once in awhile . . .

Energica / Getting Energica Parts
« on: May 17, 2024, 11:49:49 PM »
I hear it is almost impossible to get parts from Energica these days. One guy I know has been waiting for more than a year for his Rebelle Fork seals. Still has not heard anything.

And many of us are still waiting for an Experia centerstand since we first got our bikes.

What is the problem with getting Enegica parts these days?

Is it just a USA problem or is it the same in Europe?

I rode my 2020 Esse Esse 9-, which is NOT compatible with 43 to the Magic Dock in Placerville today. With version 42, the latest possible FW for it, it charged at a steady 9 KW, even a bit past 80% SOC.

This is one KW better than my Experia did last eyar with version 42.

This is the very first time I put my SS9 on a Magic Dock.

And I have yet to try in on my Exeria which now has the V43.

My SS9 in Placerville today:
