Buy Sell Trade / 2015 Zero SR For Sale! St Louis Area
« on: April 06, 2021, 04:56:27 AM »
I'm selling my 2015 Zero SR.  I bought it new and it has 5555 miles on it now. Original tires and brakes. Has had the onboard charger replaced.  Other than a fan less led headlight and tidy tail it is pretty much stock.  Comes with the Zero off-board quick charger and new Zero leather jacket. It is wrapped in Avery satin cool teal but I will remove that if you wish.  The wrap job is not bad but it was my first wrap job so does have issues.  It was dropped on a shop floor on the right side.  The only indication is the rear brake lever is bent slightly inward.  The bike functions perfectly.  I am open to reasonable offers.  I am located in St Louis area.

Well thanks for clearing that up.  Now I wonder if the zero delta q charger is really 96v or if it's been changed slightly.  I found a cheap charger on amazon.  It's called veribest.  Seems like a cheesy name but they sell a 48v 4A lithium charger for $90 so I may just go with that.

Ooops, sorry, somehow I missed that part. That's a bummer.  What are the differences in their programmable charging profiles/algorithms besides battery type if voltage cannot be adjusted?  I may just start with manually connecting the batteries in series at first then see if I can find a contactor that will disconnect the motor when it connects the batteries in series.  Obviously I will have the main contactor off when doing the charging manually but if someone were to turn the switch on/mower on I will either blow my fuse or the motor.

Well I don't need the amps adjusted, just the voltage.  My model is a 913-9600-01.  It's a 96v.  Can those be programmed to lower voltages?  If not what do you think about connecting the batteries in series during charging?

I have seen all of that but still can't figure out how and if it can be changed from 96v to 48v.

As far as batteries, look for used lithium packs from ev's like chevy volt, nissan leaf, etc.  As for the motor and controller that really depends on your power requirements.  I would look at sites like evmotorsport.com, evdrives.com, or thunderstruck motors that was already mentioned.  Agni motors are one of the more common motors for ev motorcycles.

I won't be much help with the controller and you are likely to not find much help here in the homebrew section.  I know I haven't.  Have you found a replacement motor?  I saw some agni 95r's for sale on endless sphere.  I am working with Chevy volt lg-chem cells for my project.  If you can fit the leaf cells in then sounds like that should be good to go.  What kind of C rating do they have?

Can I add multiple charging profiles to the delta Q provided by zero?  Or can I just reprogram it entirely to charge a 48v battery?  I am building an electric mower and I have 2 Chevy volt packs I will run in parallel.  My other thought is maybe I could just connect the batteries in series while charging and I wouldn't have to change anything on the charger presumably because it is setup for 96v lithium.  Any ideas?

Home Brew / Re: Commercial mower conversion. Need help

I have been posting on there and decided on 2 48v chevy volt battery packs.  I had assumed I could use my delta q quiq charger I got from zero to charge these but I have not really been able to find out if I can program it to a different voltage.  Are these zero supplied quiq chargers able to be reprogrammed to a 48v profile?

Home Brew / Commercial mower conversion. Need help
« on: December 11, 2016, 03:22:43 AM »
I have been toying around with the idea of converting my xmark walk behind to electric.  I think I found a suitable motor but now I am working out the battery configuration in my head and I don't see it being feasible.  The motor is a 48v 200amp continuous brushed dc motor.  I have loads of old laptop batteries that I have been recovering 18650 cells from.  According to my calculations I would need 11 18650's in series and 45 of those in parallel.  This is assuming the cells are rated at 2c which I cannot seem to find the specs on any of the brands I have.  When I look up the pdf on them the manufacturers don't have a c rating, rather a discharge chart at different c ratings.  Have I done my math correct? Do I really need 500 cells to make this work?  Most of these batteries are rated at 2200-2500mah.

I understand the risks of this project and I will be as careful as I can.  I am not going out and buying a zero or other bike/battery because I want to learn about this.  These batteries can be had cheaply and I do realize they are not all going to be good batteries.  That's why I am looking for proper ways to test batteries.  I am not sure on the size of the pack I am going to build yet.  I think that all depends on the voltage I need.  I guess it's not technically an EV but I am leaning towards converting my commercial lawn mower to electric.  I do appreciate all the tips.
