Lol found this thread again kinda funny I've put almost 3000 miles on my ds so far and some of it was in pretty terrible weather my ds does pretty well in snow even with the not so great tires that come on it.  Crash bars I was wanting earlier are not as much of a concern now that it's been knocked over 2 times in a parking lot the bike barely had a scratch on it other than the mirrors (even tho I was still pissed good old grocery store parking lots and stupid people) I love my ds can't wait till next winter and I can throw some kobbies on this bad boy and play in the snow some more

Yes, I threw around a 2013 DS in some snow on Seattle's hills and felt pretty confident with the stock bike. And the bike has little to protect, since the it's light and mechanically simple. I suppose one might install bumpers or frame sliders or something to make a fall slightly less jarring.
