And to prove Harlan is right about Zero's being the best vehicle for a Zombie Apocalypse aka The Walking Dead, here is an original 2013 Zero DS from Hollywood Electrics beside an iconic shot form the season 5 opening credits.  For fans of the show yes it was still CLEAR.

Awesome! Harlan is a smart dude. I am sure that with a bit of time I'll loosen up a bit and improve the production value. That kind of happened naturally over time with the ebike nerdcast that I produced previously. I know it's not great yet, but without producing something I won't improve, so thanks for taking the time to give it a go.

"Let me know what you think"

Podcast is inferior to text that I cam copy and paste into a read aloud type program.

So when Harley started selling Motorcycles in or around 1903  one went to a hardware store for fuel?

It says comment but then it says one must be logged in and I fail to see how to log in.  Probably be a harvest my information type of deal anyway.

I did make it about 2/3 of the way but just about turned it off in the first two minutes.

Hahahah, thanks for your help. :-*

Hey Guys, just started a podcast on the topic of electric two wheeled things. I recorded an episode with Harlan Flagg of holywood electrics. Let me know what you think, and more importantly what you would like to hear.

Thanks!

A topbox setup would be good as a rental in theory, since you could swap it between bikes fairly easily.

5
That's a really interesting concept. Most folks wouldn't really need it around town, and it would be great for a tour.

How are you planning to mount it?

This should make the base Zero S 9.8 $8995.50 after federal rebate. I wonder if NY state will give me anything back in their newly announced electric vehicle rebate?
Unfortunately the NY state $2,000 refund bill starts out stating the vehicle must have 4 wheels. But only requires 55 mph and 4 kWh.

Scroll down to part AA.

Because as we all know, the most effective way to get around is with an extra 3000 lbs....  :o

This episode of the cold-Zero blog is the most interesting yet:  https://rideapart.com/articles/zero-below-zero-march-lion

These are awesome. Good to see my winter riding technique (#532 - carry a disposable lighter) is still quite valid in the world of electric motorcycling :)

I can't tell you how long I struggled with frozen lock cylinders until I realized that.

Obligatory: two wheels good; four wheels bad! [Holding onto hope that Lit Motors will ship something worth my deposit]

Amen.

The fact that you're capable of reproducing work will be greatly appreciated.

Assuming of course, that Zero themselves have not run with this particular ball already ;)

The DBL-1 certainly has better lines. The DBL-2 scoops don't bother me, and I might actually open them up. It probably just needs the right color or paint scheme to get a good look, anyway - the classic vintage brown in the photos not to my taste at all.

The problem is that it will affect Cd significantly.

I imagine DS would be pretty similar, but it makes less sense to put this on a DS anyway.

Once I actually pull the trigger I'll make a bracket / installation kit for it so it's easy for other folks, but honestly I expect quite a bit of screwing around / modifying to make it work. Probably a winter 2017 project.

12
Yeah I thought the same thing about the DBL-2 except that it has unnecessary air-scoops, and it's a little smaller (plus I like the the way the DBL-1 looks)

I tried to size it up the best that I could given the cursory dimensions listed on the website, and using the wheels for scale. It's not perfect by any means, but it's roughly the right size.

It would be really nice to be able to remove it easily for non-touring situations.

I had some fun with photoshop and the Airtech DBL-1 fairing.

For 600 bucks if you can get close to 40% improvement at 60mph, It would be worth it IMO. That would earn you approximately the equivalent of $3k in additional battery pack, if not quite a bit more, even without tail section improvements.

What do you guys think about aesthetics? I honestly think it looks boss.

The lit concept is insanely forward looking and awesome. Aerodynamic efficiency is paramount to their design and you shouldn't be surprised to find 3x efficiency improvement from an ordinary motorcycle design. They have a long way to go until these are casual consumer objects, but sincerely hope that folks will be patient, because the concept is truly revolutionary.

When in doubt, solder it out. You'll need a big tip and a lot of heat, but it's the safest way to do this DIY.

Don't mess with big power contacts if you aren't absolutely sure you know what you're doing. I2R on 100A can get real.

(just a PSA, I'm sure you guys know what's up)
