Alta Motorcycles / Re: Alta Motors v2.0
« on: February 18, 2019, 11:41:15 PM »
This is not a scam or a gamble. There is no risk because the bike's that you will be buying has already been produced by OldCo. If you buy them now you will be supporting the old creditors and the liquidation company. If your want to support the new Alta Motors 2.0, then this is a risk-free option.

I am the admin on altaownersforum.com helping Alta pull through this bankruptcy. It is all legit and selling the already built bikes involves no risk to anyone.

Contact me here or on AOF, if you are interested. The money will not be going to me but to the new company that buys the assets of OldCo.

Thank you for the information,  Scotchman.

Looks like the stock Alta unit is Elcon 3.3kW. It comes in a separate Pelican plastic case and costs $900, if you buy it with a bike. Perhaps this is why DigiNow was not interested in making chargers for us.

Thank you for the information, Scotchman.

Looks like Altas already come with these 3.3kW Elcon units. They are packaged in a separate plastic Pelican case and cost $900 when bought with the bike. Maybe this is why DigiNow was not interested in making chargers for us.

I am with Scotchman on this one. A few months ago DigiNow contacted myself, as an Alta owner, and then all other Alta owners on our forum, testing waters on whether it made sense to them to make a charger for the Altas. Everyone was very curious and cautiously interested. The DigiNow website has almost no useful information, looks like an unfinished science project. Still, people persisted, asking questions, wanting to learn more. But there is NO INFORMATION out there describing DigiNow products, anywhere.

Will someone please post the ballpark price, the size and the weight of these 1, 2, 3, 3.3 kW units?

Yep. We've been talking about it for a few days already.

We have figured out all the parts here:
https://altaownersforum.com/threads/the-alta-factory-lhrb.41/

The Rekluse part is $150, and its bolt is too small. You should order from Clake, theirs is under $50 delivered.

We are figuring out the hose as well. I may have an off-the-shelf solution in a week or so.

Could you please post a link to that Alta store?

Of course we want fast charging! I've PM'ed you.

I am not an EE guy, so that diginow website might have as well been in Chinese, LOL. Doesn't Alta already sell some kind of an optional $700 rapid charger with the MXR models?

Just found these three pearls:

Nobody rides supermoto and play bikes on freeways anyway, even with gasoline engines. And if someone makes an electric bike with a 300 mile range then, or course, it will be used for commuting more often, but then it won't be as light or as fun, and people will be saying you can't take it on a full-day trip.

Do-it-all bikes simply do not exist, even in the old and established ICE world. But as long as new bikes are more fun in one way or another, there will always be a place in the market for them.

My average speed to date is 16mph. I have been trail riding powerline roads in Arizona (uphills and downhills) with an average trip of 25-30 miles, so it is 2 hours of riding plus breaks.

I do not have much experience on asphalt, but if Alta claims a 50mile range in pavement then I am sure if can do a 40mile round trip easily.

It would be interesting to see how Alta fares up against the KTM E-XC. The battery is smaller on the KTM so may not have the range needed for the competition circuit.
No contest. The KTM is a moped, it has half the power of the Alta.

If electric motorcycles start winning too many races the major manufacturers will get them banned.   ;)
Not going to happen. They lost their chance to do it earluer. Now going against electric will make them look bad, unpopular.

They may resist Alta in Supercross though, just like they are resisting 2-strokes.
