Title: New YouTube Videos of Brutus V9
Post by: ultrarnr on June 02, 2018, 04:35:18 PM
It seems BCC actually built a Brutus V9 earlier this year and posted several videos of the bike on YouTube. Extremely interesting to say the least. The V9 dyno testing shows top speed of 111 MPH and gets there in 12.4 seconds. 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. They claim range is 250+ miles with a 33kWh battery. Charging is 10kw at L2 and you can also get CHAdeMO. It is too bad they never tried to put these into full production instead of just custom orders. I would love to see a full ride report on them.

A 33kWh battery!  I wonder what that sucker weighs - and costs.  ??? No wonder they don't put the Brutus V9 into mass production. I would guess that their potential customer base is very limited. :o

Last year they were saying $32K. Batteries have come down since then, so who knows.

The Brutus V9 weighs around 850 pounds with the 33kWh battery according to their web site. They are pricy but I think the market for an electric motorcycle with a 250 mile or greater range with DCFC capability is actually pretty large. But Bell Customs Cycles does a very poor job of marketing themselves and they are not well known at all even within the EV community. They are simply a small family owned custom bike shop that makes several models of electric motorcycles. It is also possible they have no desire to go through all it takes to bring a bike to full production. In some ways Lightning is the same way.
