Title: Modifiying my Zero
Post by: Justin Andrews on September 28, 2014, 01:48:21 AM
Looking at a couple of the other zeros (DoctorBass for example) I noticed that he'd put an EL panel on his bike.

Which got me thinking... An EL panel would make a good night time visibility aid. However I did'nt want to copy anyone, and besides, I'm a bit of a Tron fan, especially the style of the new film. So I started to plan. The EL panel was easy to rig up, while I managed to find a wheel lighting system (Molten Rhok) which is a glow in the dark wheel trim powered by black light pods.

The El tape is driven from a 12v driver mounted just behind the tank bag, while the rim tape is energised by four black light pods hidden in the front mud guard and on the rear swing arm. I've added a switch on the left hand handlebar to control them.

In the day time.

Very nice colors coordination! Good job!!!

The ElectroLuminescent, gas plasma, and black-light fluorescing options are quite weak in natural daylight, but brilliant at night! I've found bright diffused LED light sticks, but they are fixed length. I, too, enjoy the work of escorting the electric vehicles into the future. :)
