Title: Unknown wires
Post by: Emtkopan on November 25, 2017, 07:02:10 AM
I laid my bike down in the back yard when I slipped on some leaves. After inspection I found these two wires. One white and one blue. I can’t figure out where they go or what they are for. They are behind the headlight. Any help would be much appreciated. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171125/b6c05ea8a4ded3205eebd40244ee748f.jpg)

Those colors are used for the can bus wiring, either to the dash or the charger then the MBB, usually twisted together. Look here https://zeromanual.com/images/8/8f/2016_FX_Wiring_1-1.pdf Good luck!

So no idea what they are actually are for? I haven’t noticed anything odd. I hope it doesn’t affect anything too major until I can figure out where they connect to.

what is the other end of the wires look like?  I mean which wiring bundle or connector do they go to.  Take a picture.

Diagram shows ABS unit has blue and white wires.  Does your ABS work?  From your photo, I gather these wires are in the headlight area.

It's an ABS cable, I think it's the right one.

Wow you guys figured that out? Thanks. I looked at the diagram and didn’t even know where to start. I’ll see what I can do to fix it. Thanks again.

Educated guess.  I don't even have ABS (2014 was before they added it).  But not many things in the headlight area with blue and white wires on that diagram.

A variant of the diagram coded or rearranged for physical routing could be useful in the future

What is this "routing" you speak of? ;)

Come to think of it my ABS light has been on. Now I just need to figure out how to re-connect them. It's been cold and rainy and I don't have a garage to work in.  :'(

Ok I hate to sound dumb here but how do I access the canbus? Is it behind the display? These wires don't look very long so I'm not sure where to go to solder them back.

Well, there are canbus wires lots of places.

Burton's 2013 and Keith's 2017 diagrams shows you where,
and what color they are.  For example, the ones in your picture!
Also, at the OBD-II-style connector.  (It shouldn't really be called
an OBD-II, btw, since it isn't wired quite like a car OBD-II.  It's
missing the 12V and it has the MBB differential serial added.)
