I have a 2011 Zero X that has recently developed throttle issues and has now stopped all together.  It has been fun the last 11 years.  I mostly used it to ride around my property.  Looking at all the projects I have, I am considering parting it out.   The question is what do we do with these old Lithium batteries?   I have thought about selling it, but there is no way to guarantee how much life it has left.  It could last weeks, months or years.   It has always been on the charger when not in use since 2011 and charges up fine and worked great until recent throttle issues.  Since Zero has abandoned these models, what is the thought process as they get older, in reference to the batteries?   If I decide to part it out, hopefully the X parts can keep other folks projects going on this forum.

I have a 2011 X I am thinking about parting out.   It has a good battery and all, however I might be willing to sell you the frame you want and I can sell the battery separately.   PM me if you are interested.

I can't recall if the MX has the AGNI motor.   I have the X and my temperature sensor went bad.  The 2011 X has the Motenergy motor.  I just removed the motor, unscrewed the endcap and you could see the sensor screwed into next to one of the brushes.  I swapped them out and now my X works again.

CEC - did you sell the Zero X?  Were you able to fix the temp sensor?

A new temperature sensor did fix the problem.  It is back up and running.

Yes the Zero X is still for sale.  A small problem showed up recently.  The temperature sensor for the motor has gone bad.  I need to see if I can order another one from Zero.  Otherwise that it works great.

This is outstanding.  Thank you for sharing the information.   This will be very helpful with those of us still running the older Zeros.

I need a charger for a 2011 zero x.  I believe that is 48v.  How much and will it have the right plug?

I have a 2011 X and I ordered new Zero sprockets from a dealer.  They were not expensive for OEM parts.  I now have the 51T, 61T and 71T.   Right now I am experimenting between the 51T and 61T.  My X came with a 71T.

Sorry to leave you hanging.  I am out of town.  When I get back home on the 21st let me weigh it and test it out.  Then I can get you a shipping cost if you are still interested at that time.

I am not sure my experience has any relevance but I wanted to share it.   I ride a 2011 Zero X at supermoto events on the local kart track.  So that is a much older version with a worse motor, lower capacity battery, worse brakes, worse suspension, no braking regen and odd ball size wheels.  I am also not the fastest rider.    Saying all that riding the Zero at Supermoto is a blast.  I stay in the 125cc class and below.  I ride mine more inline and don't worry about backing it in.  I am sure you could back it in using the rear brakes and regen.  Heck 74 year old Preston Petty gets his FX sideways on the dirt track.  See link below.   I also run a small 125 CC gas bike on the kart track and I have to say the Zero is more fun even though I get slaughtered down the straits.  You won't have that issue with the FXS.  With no shifting, no clutch and no noise it frees you up to really have good flowing lines and concentrate.  The one place I can get the gas bikes is coming out of the corner.  The smooth torque allows me to pull away mid corner and out, but they always get me at the end of the straight as I just don't have the gearing to go over 40 MPH and they are hitting over 50 on the XR100's and GROMS.  Your experience with the FXS will be completely different as you will have much more battery, torque, HP and gearing.  You may have to change your riding style from fast in to fast out though.  That is where the electric bikes can kill the gas bikes.  I would love to take an FXS around.   Good luck!
