Title: 2016 DS rack screws
Post by: motorrad36 on April 13, 2020, 01:54:36 AM
I know the two on the side are the seat bolts, but on the top under the seat there are two screw holes. Anyone know the size of that bolt?

Per: https://zeromanual.com/wiki/OEM_Top_Rack_Install (https://zeromanual.com/wiki/OEM_Top_Rack_Install)

(2) Hex socket button-head bolts - M6x16-8.8

I tend to recommend upgrading these if you're going to put significant mass in the top box. I've had the heads break off when riding on a rough patch of highway at speed. Mostly, it's okay if the rack sits firmly on the tail horns and plastics, but do mind it. And don't ride around without the seat bolts in - that'll definitely break these bolts.

Thanks all, didn't think to check the wiki. Rack is now installed after way too much effort!

Blemish was there when I got the rack though, not from me ;)
