Hi !

After the Zero recall which upgraded the battery to a 12.5, i'd like to polish the plastics which are a bit scratchs (nothing deep, but the normal use of plastic rubbing against a jean or keychain).

Any idea what product / method works best ? Someone advised Mirror or toothpaste, but it did not work so well. I also used a plastic renovating product which works ok but only hides scratches - i also need a surface treatment to polish them.

Any idea ?

Hi all,

A potential buyer for my Zero 2013 seems anxious about a possible reducing performance of the zero battery (in terms of max km of autonomy mainly). Did any of you notice such a performance reduction ? To the contrary, can any "veteran" Zero with a high mileage (mine is 7000 km on a 2013 Zero) testimony that performance remained unchanged even after a large number of miles/km ?

Thanks a lot !

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Used Zero prices - some references
« on: April 19, 2015, 12:03:41 AM »
Now very satisfied with my Zero 2013 S 11.4 with 7200 km (after a few annoying issues, now fixed), I'm considering selling it in France to buy a 2015 SR.

I bought it for 16.000 euros, and I had a few offers around 9.500 € - 10.000 €, which proves that a second hand market now exists. Also, a large share of the market is dealers trying to resell their excess inventory for older models.

Compared to the usual discount for bikes, it is still a bit too high - probably because people are reluctant to buy a used model. It also means that buying a used model is a good bargain... But considered the annual savings on fuel, it leads to a total cost of use (3000 €/year : only loss of resell value because zero fuel; zero maintenance) acceptable.

Did any of you have references for 2013 + used market prices ? Best,

Vincent

Electric Motorcycles Breakout as Transportation Alternative
The last few years have seen growth in the two-wheel EV market, but that growth has largely
been attributable to either e-bicycles or e-scooters. Sales of e-motorcycles have been
increasing, but the market remains a tiny fraction of the e-bicycle and e-scooter market (5.2
million e-bicycles and e-scooters compared to about 30,000 e-motorcycles were estimated to
have been sold in 2013 outside of China). However, there are a number of factors that point to
the potential that higher powered e-motorcycles may see a big year in 2014.
First and foremost, there are more products available for purchase with new entrants ready to
boost the market profile. While in the past e-motorcycle growth was focused on range and costeffectiveness,
2013 turned a corner on these issues with Zero Motorcycles and Brammo both
offering higher power (>60hp) motors and a range of 100-plus miles. Superbikes have been
coming fast and furious as well, with Lightning Motorcycles, Mission Motorcycles, and a new
player, Agility Motors, demonstrating high-powered (and expensive) e-motorcycles. Traditional
motorcycle players are now on the verge of entering the market as well, with Yamaha and BMW
offering products in 2015.

All,

The belt of my Zero 2013 S broke twice in less than 2 months, with a very low mileage (2000 km the first time, 200 km the second one) and for no reason involving the riding conditions (Champs-Elysées the first time, rue de Rivolu the second, the poshest streets in Paris). In both case I needed a new belt, someone to put it on the bike and a transportation from the place the bike stoped to the dealership.

The fix was quite quick in both case. I accepted to pay for the transportation in both case (i could have forced the dealership to pay for it because it was a defect), but it seems that even for parts (new belt : 60€) and service (90€) my dealer has difficulties to have Zero pay for it (which is the way it has to go : under any legal system in the world, the producer of a defective product pays for any consequence of the defect).

I do not know if it is my dealer who did not ask it the right way to the right people, the Zero country leader (France), the region leader (EU, in Netherlands) and a global zero policy. So my question : how does it work with US dealers (like Hollywood electrics). My concern is that if dealers have to pay for what they're not responsible for, the risk is high that they might stop selling & servicing bikes because service losses will kill their margin. This would be a real issue (and the reason why I did not push too much). One hint is, thanks to advice from people form this forum, I managed fixing other issues by escalating over the Eu level...

Answers here or in MP are welcomed, especially on how I can help my dealer !

Two months ago, the belt of my Zero 2013 S broke for no reason in the middle of the Champs Elysées - it only had 3000 km or so, only riding on the streets of Paris (not really a "tough" environnment). After some discussions, Zero accepted to supply the belt, but I had to pay to have the bike transported to the dealership and the dealer had to do the service free of charge.

Today, I had the same issue : with an almost new belt, after rolling on a small pothole the belt broke and I was left in the middle of the traffic without any possibility to keep a safe speed. There was a noise as if the suspension was too weak, and the tire touched the frame.

Did anyone have the same issue ? My feeling is that either the rear suspension is too weak (which causes the tire to touch the frame, which causes a violent brake and an excessive tension on the belt) or the tension on the belt has been tuned to tight (which makes it fragile and breaking in condition it shouldnt).

Any idea ?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Useful tools for electric riders
« on: July 17, 2013, 11:45:14 AM »
I thought these tools could be useful for other riders

   - How far can I go draws the map you can access with a given autonomy : http://www.freemaptools.com/how-far-can-i-travel.htm
If someone can tell me how to print a large map without the ads & text, that would be great

    - Chargemap.com gives you the list of the charging stations around you, or along a specific trip
     http://chargemap.com/

     - (Android App) Autolib for french users gives you the list of the charging stations, and the numbers of slots available. With a 30 €/year fixed fee, you can book a slot (and a parking place) and use it for free for a few hours

Hope it helps !

I really love this bike, but come on - one zip close case ? I dont know who came out with this idea... I took one month for the zipper to break - i'll probably have it modify with some velcro...

I was wondering if anybody had info regarding this protocol, in order to develop specific apps (like setting max speed lower than 90 km/h, different displays,...).

Dear 2013 users,

Sunny days are coming and I was planning a trip with my zero S, but I wondered what range could be achieved with a passenger in realistic conditions (ie, not aggressive, but real traffic or stop & go) ? Does it strongly reduce range ?
