Hi gang!
I just wanted to introduce myself and my bike. I just picked up a 2011 Zero S in pristine condition ..until I go after its components that is The bike runs great and gave me 34 miles at 60-63mph freeway all the way with no trouble at all in 120 miles so far other than a weird buzzing when applying the front brake. It has 800 miles total now.
My background is in computers and airplane building. I use to be into rc cars and the zero seems very similar in nature. Yes, I could have gotten a newer one, but this one seems very friendly to upgrading and I love to tinker. Plus the price was right! First step, enjoy as it is for what is left of our short Minnesota season. I'm sure you Canadians know how I feel! Next will be to plan the buildup. Hopefully you won't mind if I ask a few questions in the forum. I am open to any and all buildup ideas!!

keep dirt sand and dust out of the engine air intake, thats my advice based on what i reckon caused early failure of my motor(albiet 201 DS, but same motor).

the 2011 has a better system for keeping crud out, the 2010 was better described as a dirt concentrator! I added new body work, shrouds, and an air filtration system - no problems since!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

building up. I started to completely convert all lights to LED on my 2011. As the 2011 has a standard round headlight an LED headlight can easily be found. Details further down. Other changes I would make is to try faster off the line speed - not easy as this seems to be only changeable in the main board. the other item is to add more battery capacity to the bike for greater range. There is space either side of the battery and it could be achieved. Or moving controller and charger. Controller underneath rear of seat. Charger, might replace with smaller model (docbass talks about options somewhere in this forum) etc. This frees up space underneath the battery. obviously make it very water tight ...

then watch (and listen) to the Agni motor. It is a brushed motor and they might give you problems. Not to hard to change them luckily.

checked the Zero webstore - seems they don't have any LED options on offer. This leaves us the after market options only.
I have done the conversion on a 2011.
First start with the indicators. the mount on the Zero is standard size, either

For the LEDs to work properly you need as well the right LED relay. A relay like in the link (from Hong Kong NOT China - Hong Kong usually ships where as China shops don't...). Ensure the symbols match the original one in the Zero as there are different options. The relay is in the tank area (2011 that is other models dont know). Easy to swap.

next the rear light. As I did want to chop the rearfender and create a cleaner look I went for a bracket / LED solution (its from an Australian seller):

it is a bit of a job to make the LED trucklite fit. do it carefully and it will work.

All good advice! Thanks! I am eager to begin the planning phase! Riding is fun too! Anyone else notice the buzzing noise from the front brake..it really is strange.

Hi. Do not Notice a buzzing noise at the front. In my case at the rear brake. With belt drive and no engine noises you simple hear everything. The noise at brakes might be simply the brake pads.
The biggest noise I am getting (again) is from the brushes. Seems after one excellent, fun ride the brushes decided to make more noise. Seems to pull more current as the contactor plays up too o occasions and the bike does not start. Will be checking brushes (easy) and replace contactor (hard) now.

Back to building up. I quickly chopped off the big rear fender and added the "saddleman" soft case.
