Any source for Atlas Throttle Lock aftermarket friction pads? I know Atlas sells them separately but they are pricey and I find that I need a different size than the ones they offer.

The thinnest ones from Atlas are too thin. The next size up is too thick. Stacking two of the thinnest ones is too thick.

My bike is a 2015 DS.

Thx

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Belt fail after 36 thousand miles
« on: May 06, 2018, 03:15:47 AM »
My 2015 DS belt failed after 36 thousand miles. Luckily I noticed the issue before it snapped. Lot's of missing teeth. It was a bit loose so probably my fault for not checking tension in a while.

Luckily I had a spare belt from my old 2012 DS which works on the 2015.

My place of work moved and I now park in a parking garage. The Zero won't trigger the parking gates on entry or exit. I've read you can mount Neodymium magnets to the bottom of motorcycles to trigger the gates and traffic lights. Is there anything on the Zero that could be damaged by this?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2015 DS 12.5 latest firmware rev?
« on: September 17, 2017, 05:01:03 AM »
According to the zero log parser utility, my MBB logs say Firmware rev. 49.

When I was at my dealer on July 20 I had them check that my firmware was at latest revision. They said they checked it and it was at latest. However according to here there is at least one 2015 DS that reports a firmware rev of 51.

Can anyone confirm the latest Firmware rev for 2015 DS 12.5?

Thanks,
Jerome

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Auxiliary power fuse "upgrade"
« on: September 03, 2017, 01:19:54 AM »
I read here that reportedly some folks have replaced the 10 amp accessory power fuse with 12.5 amp or 15 amp. How safe is that? Would it void warranty?

I'm looking at buying some heated gear. I'm already powering Denali D2 lights and a USB charging port.

Worst case if I had everything on (lights on high beam, charging with the USB, all heated gear on high) I would draw around 176 watts. Breakdown below.

Denali D2s 10 watt
USB charger 15 watt
Hotwired Jacket 83 watt
Hotwired Pants 46 watt
Hotwired Gloves 22 watt

Any idea if it would be safe to have all of these on the accessory power (SAE connector) after swapping 10 amp fuse with 15 amp? I'm not really interested in replacing the wiring with heavier gauge wire if that would be required for safety. In that case I'd just forego some of the heated gear or get heated gear with it's own battery power.

Thanks.

Started in Roanoke, VA after work on a Friday. Basically followed alongside the Appalachian Trail up to the White Mountains (rode up Mt Washington). Then went straight up to North Hatley, Quebec and stayed the night. Turned around and came back down approximately the same route except went through West Virginia to get back home (Blacksburg, VA). Great experience.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Cold ride
« on: December 16, 2016, 06:54:51 PM »
Rode 46 miles into work this morning on my 2015 DS. Temp at start was 14 F. Temp at destination was 16 F. Motorcycle was kept outside all night on stock charger. Low last night was around 10 F.

I couldn't take my normal highway route.  I tried to but the bike didn't want to go much past 60 mph in this cold. So I took secondary roads with speed limits no higher than 60 mph.

This is definitely the coldest ride of this distance I've ever taken on two wheels. My only heated clothing are gloves (battery heated). I was most concerned with how cold my head would get but it did OK, mainly I think because of the Slipstreamer Turbo windshield. The windshield keeps the wind off my neck. It does direct it at my forehead but I found that if I crack my visor then I don't feel the wind on the forehead. I discovered this in the first minute of riding since the inside of the visor was freezing up quickly and I couldn't see out so I had to crack it to see.

Stay warm.

I removed my 2015 DS rear wheel and brought it to the dealer for a tire replacement. New tire is a Shinko 705. Front is still stock Pirelli.

I put the wheel back on myself, did the belt tension procedure, and went for a ride. It now vibrates annoyingly between 15-30mph. No problem outside that range, although I haven't taken it up past 45 mph with the new tire.

So I adjusted the tension down a little, went for a ride again and it still vibrates in that speed range.

I assumed the dealer would've balanced as part of the fitment, but didn't confirm. When I gave them the wheel it had weights on it. I didn't pay attention to whether it had weights when I first got it back, but it doesn't now. Of course they might've replaced the weights with beads. I'll call tomorrow to ask.

Could this be a balance problem? I thought balance problems were more noticeable at higher speeds?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2015 DS throttle hand fatigue
« on: April 01, 2016, 06:01:44 AM »
So I've owned 3 other motorcycles and 2 maxi-scooters over the last 23 years. I've never experienced a throttle that was so difficult to hold open as my 2015 DS (demo model). It is progressively harder to hold open the more you twist it. Most of my 45 minute commute now is at 70+ mph and by the time I get to my destination my index finger is almost asleep.

Anyone else experiencing this? What to do?

My favorite throttle of all the 2-wheelers I've owned was on my 2012 DS. It was a dream. If it was warm enough out (over 60F or so) and I was on a flat section I could let go and it would remain where it was, effectively like cruise control. I felt I had very fine control over my speed with the 2012 DS throttle. My 2015 is constantly fighting to snap closed.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2015 DS brake cable covering dash
« on: November 25, 2015, 12:25:25 AM »
So I just received my new 2015 DS this morning and went on my first test ride. Only major annoyance I have is that I can't see the turn signal indicators due to the brake cable that routes right over them.

Has anyone found a quick fix for this? I mean something that doesn't require me to disconnect the cable to reroute it.

Thanks!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2015 DS wiring diagram
« on: November 22, 2015, 04:01:28 AM »
I'll be moving my Givi Maxia trunk with AdMore lighting from my 2012 DS to my 2015 DS soon.

Is there a 2015 DS wiring diagram available? Is it same as Burton's 2013 diagram?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2014 vs 2012
« on: November 05, 2015, 06:52:34 PM »
For those of you who've owned both a 2012 and 2014, what do you like better about the 2014? What did you like better about the 2012?

I'm considering the Zero trade-in deal, but don't want to have buyers remorse. Things I'm afraid I might not like about the 2014 vs the 2012:
  • louder motor on 2014
  • shorter seat height

Just got my 2015 personal property tax bill from the county. Assessed value of my 2012 Zero DS ZF9 is $12,175. Should I call the county Treasurer to see if he wants to buy it for that?
