Energica / Re: Custom Gloves
« on: May 12, 2024, 09:08:31 PM »
I used this Co. to make my custom leathers. Super price and quality with excellent customer service and communication.  I would write them to see if they will do custom gloves (they make thm too).

It is absolutely true. As most of you know Electrek is a big supporter of EV's and give Tesla credit for making them popular and viable. They have very accurate reporting.

https://electrek.co/2024/04/29/tesla-conducting-more-layoffs-including-entire-supercharger-team/

Here is the eye opening outtake from that A-hole:

And while the last layoffs were distasteful enough, continued layoffs have even worse optics, given Tesla’s move to ask shareholders for a $55 billion payout for its CEO just days after firing 14,000 people. That $55 billion could pay for 40 years worth of six-figure salaries for those employees. Quite a large payday for a part-time CEO, made worse by the potential loss of livelihood for more employees who might still be on the chopping block.

Energica / Re: Cruise Control while Cornering
« on: March 19, 2024, 09:48:10 PM »
If the corner is a bit tighter than a normal "cruising curve", the tyres will be on a slightly smaller diameter the further leaned over you are....I'd equate it to a race bike's rpm raising slightly as it leans into and around a corner assuming it is doing the the "same speed", as the bike returns to "upright" the rpm will come back slightly to it's original rpm due to the diameter of the tyre.....assuming the speed doesn't change of course.

Smithy.

This is exactly the science behind it, nothing more than a smaller tire diameter covering a bit less distance per revolution but the speed ring is turning at the same rate thus no corrections for the CC.

Can't read it. Seems that perhaps you need to be a subscriber.

As I uderstand it, some iPhones have moving lens for focusing. This tiny mechanism is pretty fragile.

FYI -

Apple has quietly added a new section to its support pages warning that motorcycle vibrations can damage an iPhone’s camera over time. As per Apple: “Exposing your iPhone to high amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges, specifically those generated by high-power motorcycle engines, can degrade the performance of the camera system.”

So maybe a lower risk on a EV bike. Are you feeling lucky? Roads around me are so bad that I've bent a rim on a pot hole. Good phone goes in my pocket and cheapo on mount.

So many stories of phone cameras ruined by the vibes, bumps and shakes on a motorcycle. Due to this, I got an old iPhone 6 on eBay for $40 for nav and track day data logging (Harry's).

I would get one that has the very best isolation from these hazards. Ruining an iPhone 15 is not cheap! To calm my wife for my off road/trail excursions in the Nat. Forest I got a Garmin InReach mini.

There are some super deals to be had, but most are in FL. I personally don't believe that the interest in buying EV's is dropping at all.

Electric Motorcycle News / Re: 2024 Beta Explorer

IMO it is yet another offering of a dirt bike that fails to match the value of the AdmitJet Armor. I concede to the 100 pounds less weight (and that is indeed a big deal!) but for the same price delivered the  Armor has twice the battery at 5kWh and a top speed of 85. The 4 speed tranny provides for an insane 1st gear tree climber and all day wheelies, while 4th gives that 85 mph. Fit, finish and hardware is super nice.

Are you an AMA member receiving the monthly magazine?

I looked at that admitjetarmor and the chasis is a copy of my ktm freeride.  While the freeride lists for $11,000 they imported 1000 of them and seem to be selling for $8000 (no dealer prep conveyance fee freight just If you know what state to go to the sales tax is due when you get an off highway plate or real plate if you try and suceed) with dealer network and 3 year warranty, been importing here since 2017. Even less at one place on cycletrader though I don't know if that is out the door.  As to value your admitjetarmor says 1 year warranty, I see the Beta thing this thread is about is two years on battery and  motor.  Best I can tell they, admiraljet are looking for dealers.  Beta likely is taking applications as well though likely it would help to be an A or AA rider.  ;D  Start a therad about them post a link to the exploded parts list etc.  This beta thing has surron product I think is a better comparable.

I don't see you put a location in your profile. If you are near Ct or Ma USA bring one by I have access to private property where I can bring a guest.

Yes, long time AMA member. Live in Nor California. They are indeed hoping for dealers.

Still not seeing anything that beats the value to performance of the Admit Jet Armor. I'm extremely happy with mine, surprizing quality, crazy power, reverse and $4700 delivered to California. You can upgrade suspension (quite content with stock) and get a street legal lighting kit for an extra $125. The customer service has been 1st rate and fast.

General Discussion / Re: Tesla exaggerated their cars' battery ranges
« on: September 01, 2023, 09:58:24 PM »
Thanks Don, that makes sense. A Tesla tech also told me that the displayed range is based on your driving habits. Being that 95% of my driving is at 60-72 mph I can now understand the hit on EPA range. Love the car, but Tesla decideing to eliminate Resume for cruize control is shocking!

Don, I was asking if you have ever charged to 100% and what was the range DISPLAYED. I'm not asking what driving range you get, but instead what range is shown at the end of a 100% charge? It's claimed to be 311 miles but I've never seen over 285. This is a 9% loss in under 30K miles. Tesla claims a 12% loss at 200K miles.

I think one of the best examples of EV elegance are the mega monster mountian top minning  dump trucks. They never need to be plugged in - they come down hill with a super heavy load on regen. After dumping they are much lighter and have enough regen charge to make it back to the top to repeat this splender of electric propuision over and over.
