How you drive the bike also has a huge influence on the wear as well.
If you are a regular commuter, just going to / from work, maybe an occasional weekend ride, running like a normal person, normal speeds, no read hard accels, then it may last quite a while.  If you like to romp it, and do a lot of high torque starts and high speed runs, then it won't last as long.

It was driven by an old lady from ZPasedena, who only drove it on sundays, to goto church with, and the church was just down the block  8)

You can always use 911 if you are broke down.  Tell them this is NOT a critical emergency but im broke down, and need a tow truck and no cell service.  Even with no service, there typically 'is' some kind of service that 911 will make your phone find.  It does things to the phone / with the phone, that normal service won't, to find emergency comms.  Ive asked the police about using 911 in cases like this and they said, yes it is allowable.  I asked about their non emergency number and they said, typically even when you dial the non emer, it still goes to the same dispatchers to answer it, because it's ALL recorded and they use the same system for the recording.  If an emergency call comes in, they may put you on hold, but typically answer the non emergency  numbers too.

Ive learned the hard way that when the bike starts to go over at a stop or a very slow roll and you are on it, just hop to the side, try to guide it down as gently as you can but just get out of it's way.  How much does the lightning weigh?  Id assume it's top heavy as well?

Glad you didn't get caught up with it and / or injured.  The weight of these bikes will find you VERY quickly!

Dark Shadows, I remember that one!   But... all the DS junkies moved onto All My Children I believe when DS finally went off the air.  Well, there was the Night Stalker but that was a regular TV show.

Loading the gears up with either power or regen they mesh harder and make noise.  Letting them free wheel with no load on them, they should be a lot quieter, ie coasting to a stop .vs. a powered stop via regen.  They will make some noise but nowhere as near as much as when under a load.

The Ribelle can be quieted down a tad by turning down the Regen a bit.  When it's regenning, being used as a generator, yes it can make some noise, but if it's just idling by, no electric / field / pole noise being generated, it's just gliding and you'll hear a soft rattling of the chain.  the noise is a derivative of the frequency of the electric you are making,  yes technically it is DC, but it's actually a chopped 3 phase sinusoidal waveform the motor is actually making, that gets smoothed by the inverter and put back into the battery, so it has a frequency to it, which of course changes, as the speed of the motor changes, and the rotor passes the windings at a slower rate.   anyways....

In glide, they are very quiet.

Energica is selling bikes right now.

I can literally walk into a dealer  right now, and walk out in a few hours, with a brand new EGO or Ribelle... those are the only two the Orlando dealership currently has because his other bikes are sold out and he's waiting for new stock.

Where can I walk in and get a Lightning bike?  where could I EVER have walked in and gotten a lightning bike.  Why are there no pictures in the general public domain of one of their bikes being used in a general setting that is NOT a closed and / or PR event?   Unlike Energica / Zero / LiveWire etc where there are TONS of pictures of them being driven by normal people, having fun with them in a PUBLIC setting.

In fact there is an entire thread in this forum, of an individual having fun on their Energica Bike.
Not so much for Lightning...
WHY is that?

curious minds and all.

Ahh, so you ARE a shill / troll for the Defunct, or should we say, never fully alive,  'L' company.

General electric lost tons of money in the E vehicle market.
Ford lost a lot of money in the E vehicle market.
Tesla is having some issues as well, and they are the leading edge of the E wave.
So did a lot of the other companies, lose money.
Rivian is another start up that is several million in the hole, losing money each vehicle yet still going.
So why do you act like this is a unique thing?

Not very honest of you.

Just because he may be biased, does NOT mean what he is saying is false.

Why are YOU deflecting the question?  Speaking of rich...

You know Apollo?  great, ask him to come here and answer our ?'s then.  This way we can put all this speculation to rest once and for all, and clear your tarnished reputation.  If you say you don't care, then why even bother answering as far as you have, if you honestly don't care.

So if the owner has serious health issues and is no longer riding...
WHY is he paying to get the bike repaired?  I mean if riding is a thing of the past, WHY spend all that money to fix the thing AND repaint it???

Why not just sell the bike, as is, he'll never recover the money he is going to put in to repaint it.  Worse case, give it back to the company / sell it back to the shop.

This makes absolutely no sense.  Besides, to be honest, who'd want to buy a bike from a company, that for all intensive purposes, never really existed to the public to begin with?

What shop is fixing it?  Where are they getting the parts to fix it? Are they new parts or parts yanked off an old prototype from several years ago, repainted to hide the oxidation from sitting in a warehouse for years?

The grapevine of gossip needs some better watering here bro.

So, let's say I wanted to buy one of these wonder bikes myself, so I can compare it head to head with the EGO I currently have, and have posted pictures of it along with me, and it running on the track.  How would I get one of these new bikes.  Id appreciate it being brand new, like the EGO if you order it, not some cludged together cancer made from various prototype parts.  How much would that set me back and is that even possible?

Are there any pictures of this new improved battery pack bike on the net anywhere?  Is it available for us mere mortals?
Seriously, Id want one so I could head to head it with my own EGO and see how each performs under ideally the same conditions.
But let's not just take my limited skill word for it....
Im getting to know several decent people who actually KNOW how to ride a bike, and how to ride it well, unlike someone like oh say.... me...
One of them even said he knows the owner of Lightning, tested his bike way back, etc.  I'll leave out the rest of what he said...

Im sure they'd LOVE to hop on a new E bike for a rip run,  especially after riding my EGO and going oh holy shit!!, this thing is fkn Crazy~~~! I KNOW they'd love to test one of these Lightnings and give me HONEST feedback on it since the EGO blew them away so wildly!

Honesty is a good thing in this world, this sport, whatever you want to call it.
I got honest feedback on my curent EGO.  I had handling issues with the front end, didn't know what to call it or how to properly explain it, so had a few PRO's ride the bike who DO know what to call it, and explain it properly.  Now We have a very good idea what's not right, We have a solid plan now how we are going to work the front end to perfection!!  It's mostly tuning.

Nothing wrong with problems, it happens, but being shady about them, and all this hidden extreme apparent altruism.. yah that don't ring true most the time.  I get it if a company did a HUGE solid deal for someone and told them, please keep this to yourself, it'd cause us issues if it went public what we did for you.  I totally get that. but to just disappear like happened here?  Nobody buys that.

Why isn't appollo posting anymore, unless that was really you, and this is just your newest moniker.  The way he was bragging up how awesome bla bla, the bike was, we'd have expected to hear a lot more, not just a hit and run.  So he crashed, big deal, it happens, I ran off a few times already, once being stupid, the other 2, learning my limits.  Luckily I did not crash, but I am sure, sooner or later it's waiting for me.  NOTHING to be embarrassed about, that is how we learn.

You said we can check with him if what you say is true. Well we ARE checking with him, he's not answering, which add's even more strength to the pole waving the BS flag.  You seem to know a lot about him and have a rapport, tell him to get his ass over here and give us an update!

Let's do this, Lets go head to head with these bikes.  Let's get an honest ride of both, and see how they run with each other.
At the very least.  Man if we video'd this, this could be a total  blast!! shit ...imagine if we rented out a track for a day, up here it's only about 3 or 4k, I could that that very easily.  Have an E bike get together where we just show up, run our bikes, brag em up, have a great time and talk bikes !!  The camaraderie, this could be an awesome event!!   We could even invite our friends who run ICE bikes, so we can talk crap with them too!!  :)   Have a party after the track closes for the night....Let's make it happen.

Where to get the new improved Lightning at so we CAN do this ????

Energica / Re: Magic Charging--Experia Style!!!
« on: May 30, 2024, 05:02:03 AM »
Sometimes the charge time / estimate thingy can get wonky.  If it's that much of a bother, try interrupting the charge, turn bike off / remove plug to totally reset everything, then turn it all back on again and restart charge.  That often times can fix the issue.  Ive had the ego get odd a time or two when it's sat for a while w/o a charge, like a few weeks, and it's the first charge after that period.  Once it does get a bit of a charge in it, or more importantly you run it down say 5 percent or so actually running the bike, to bring ALL the cells down a bit, then recharge, it sorts itself out.

If I remember correctly,  Apollo was warned a few times about his pending purchase but was already drunk off it, and well... you know how the rest of that goes.  A fool and his money....

There should be some sort of lemon law or something he can get his money back on the bike overall isn't there?  CA is one of the more consumer protecting states, Id think they'd have something in place for a situation like that, unless the company just goes totally tits up and files for bankruptcy.  This is beyond small claims court but a lawsuit can work too.  Id say he has a very good chance at winning it.  Even if they never pay,or try to weasel out, at least get a lien on any income that does make it's way to them to recover the cost of the bike.

There is a third scenario.

Apollo was just a shill, trying to sleaze whore the bike, he was in on it from the get go, he got his money back, never paid any money, just did the bike whoring thing, and now will just disappear into the memory hole.  Seems that way so far from what we ae seeing here.

I really do hope he gets it back, Id really like to go head to head with him on the track with my EGO.  At least we know that bike exists and runs.

That's kind of ironic in a way.  They'll wear a helmet on their bicycle, but I guess the bike is legal...  but NOT on the e bike, which is illegal?  which I guess if you are going to ride an illegal bike, might  as well go full gangsta and ditch the  helmet, they ain't kewl right?

Camel Unfiltered anyone?

Doesn't China already have one, or their equivalent?  Which is another reason for the tarriff's on their cars to make the US ones more competitive?
