Chitin is also found in insect shells too, so it's not that novel an idea.  Zinc, depending on who you talk to, can also be qualified as a heavy metal, and considered toxic.  Depends on who's whoring for what grant on one day on that one though.

Those would be primary batteries tho wouldn't they?  One use and hunk, because ANY battery that is supposed to luv mubber eurf, should be recycled, not landfilled.

FWIW I also think chitin is used in food, as some insect shells are used to give the colorings of many foods.

A zinc battery typically is the old D cell tech you use to use in flashlights before the alkaline came along.
