EVA's Headlight
« on: August 13, 2018, 05:53:03 PM »

Hi All,
I want to change my headlight to a more SS9'ish one wich are far better in my opinion  8)

I allready have in my garage a cyclop headlight :
https://motorcycleparts-uk.co.uk/cafe-racer-retro-headlights/cyclops-custom-motorcycle-projector-headlight

So here are some questions in order to be able to replace those bug eyes :

- is it possible to remove the EVA's std headlights without removing the dashboard ?

- what type of bulbs are in the std EVA's Headlight ?
H3 / H7 / Other ?
LED / Halogen ?

- Would this cause any trouble with the VCU ? if same power is consumed by the headlight it should be OK but i prefer to ask before

thanks  :D

I can confirm that the headlight mask doubles as the mount for the dash. The entire assembly is attached by 4 bolts to the upper and lower triple tree clamps.

The headlights on the EVA are LED, each unit has 2 drivers (one for high one for low beam), these are mounted inside the front mask. Make sure you do not turn the bike on if these units are disconnected from the LED's

Off hand I do not know what the current draw of each driver is but a multimeter should answer that. The VCU is expecting a specific current draw from any active led drivers. It will show a fault and may disconnect power to the circuit if the draw is outside of perimeters.

Best of luck with your mods, make sure you post photos!

Thanks Demoni for your answers  :D

So I'll have to find :
- a LED H3 Bulb to fit in the Cyclop
- Fork mountings for the headlight
- creating a bracket for the Dash

I'll first read Tension and Intensity from stock LED's Driver units.
Then try to reach the same Intensity from my headlight single LED Driver

I'll probably have to get twice the Resistance from each stock drivers and get a 2 to 1 input / 1 to 2 output for both low and high beams

I'll keep you informed once I get more informations  ;)

LED blub
I run this company's LED headlights on my BMW F800gs. Solid lights (running for 1.5 years so far), easy install, great light improvement over stock.

Depending on your finial wiring set-up, if you want it to be plug and play into the stock connectors you will need to look for JST-JWPF type plugs here are a few part numbers:

02T-JWPF-VSLE-S - Female 2 pin socket
02R-JWPF-VSLE-S - Male 2 pin socket
SWPT-001T-P025 - Male pins
SWPR-001T-P025 - Female pins

Thanks for those precise inputs demoni :)

since it's also used as support for dashboard and windscreen, I'll try to find a way to properly cut the plastic part and add some feature to be able to put it back easily if needed :)

I'll keep you informed for next steps but it may take some time as I'll probably have more free time this winter ;p
