Title: Ticking sound when driving (like a coasting bicycle)
Post by: xzornixz on July 21, 2016, 11:58:15 AM
So, my 2016 Zero SR is making a ticking sound, very similar to the sound you get on a bicycle when coasting. The sound increases in volume when braking... Anyone else have this?

Not that I've heard. You've checked for anything interfering with the wheels and belt?

A stone or screw stuck in the tire?

My '15 SR does the same. I think it's the ABS.

Oh. Yes, the ABS does tick when activated. I haven't listened carefully enough when it isn't on.

I don't think it's ABS because I hear it coming from the front brake on my 2014 Zero S which pre dates ABS for Zero.  But I don't hear it when I'm not braking, @xzornixz says they hear it when not braking but softer.  I think it's just the sound of pad on disc and nothing to be concerned about... when braking is being applied.  It sounds like the pad on @xzornixz bike may be making some contact with the disc even when the brakes are not being applied.

I should note that I don't have stock brake pads and I don't remember if I heard it with my stock pads. Without looking I'm not sure what pads I have on my bike right now but when I picked my bike up from the dealer today they said the front pads are getting close to needing replacement. I think they are an organic pad but not certain.
