Title: Wiring map for left controls?
Post by: coppit on May 16, 2020, 08:04:41 AM
Hi all,

I'm installing a turn signal controller into my 2015 Zero DS. It will automatically cancel my turn signal. This one: https://safer-turn.com/smart-turn-system/

The instructions say that I need to intercept the 3 wires for the left, right, and flasher. But the left side controls go into a bundle of 9 wires. See attached pic. Does anyone know where I can find out which of these wires are the ones I want?

Or should I just jam a pin in the back of the connector, and use my voltmeter while I fiddle with the controls?

Thanks,
David

No matter what anyone says you're going to want to double check it anyway as they could be mistaken or something may have changed over the years. I wouldn't go sticking a pin in there, looks like it may have some sealant in there to keep moisture out, just pull the connector apart and measure from the inside.

I pulled it apart as you suggested. I thought that if I tested conductivity while pressing the turn signal, or checking connection to ground, I'd be able to figure it out. No luck.

I took apart the control unit and looked at the wires on that side. See pic.

Red with black stripe = left
Black with blue stripe = flasher
Cornflower blue = right

I'll post about my experiences with the unit separately.

They have isolated grounds so you'd need to knw where their ground was coming back at...
