Private parking always
« on: March 01, 2017, 08:16:52 AM »

At Whole Foods downtown Austin, they only have one charger with one NEMA 5-15 and a J1772.
So, every time I come down there, I have my own private parking space and charger all the time, since no one can use the wall outlet and the J1772 is always used by the same Nissan Leaf.

I get the parking and electrons for free, but pay plenty of ridiculous money for good organic food though  ;D

Anybody who has a private parking spot due to his or her choice of vehicle too?

Let's cherish it until every Joe Blow rides or drives an EV :P

In the San Francisco area, there is considerably more contention for chargers, especially during working hours.

But, an electric motorcycle can always take up those triangular spots in a lot, dedicated motorcycle parking is really common, and NEMA 5-15 are somewhat plentiful if you're polite and/or discreet.

I still haven't dipped into someone's private stash of electrons :)

I figured that SF is a bit more on the forefront with EVs. So the demand is on in your city.

It's hard to believe that of all places Texas is becoming the leader in wind energy.
Come to think, it is f..... windy a lot....

I'll have to learn what is ok and what's not in this city in terms of parking and charging.
Charge point has some dubious stations listed though. It looks like they are located in people's kitchens after all :)

Oh and I am thinking about making reverse stickers for people's windshields to remind them they're not driving an EV.
Got to make sure I don't get caught, or they sue me for property damage or emotional distress hahahah... I'll sue them back for impeding my mobility then :)

https://twitter.com/ivebeeniced is your friend in such cases, and of course some public shaming at the twitter of the venue if possible.

You can order some cheap business cards to stick behind the wipers if needed.

A couple of grocery stores near me (in the suburbs south of San Francisco) used to have designated EV parking-only spaces but they are being removed and replaced with standard IC parking spaces - perhaps due to lack of demand or due to private property enforcement issues.  ???
