I just thought I would add that I was at Zero on Thursday and was a little shocked how big things have grown. From what I saw Zero is shipping out bikes every day. The amount of parts Zero has in stock is also a little shocking. Shipping containers full of tires and wheels fill the rear parking lot.

Try and take some pics of the inside of the S/DS battery pack please. I've never seen the internals of the bigger packs.

Iowa if you do get an Electric bike check out the Cycle Analyst + Analogger. I have the Cycle Analyst on my bike but no logging device yet. It makes it easy to be stingy on the power. http://www.ebikes.ca/drainbrain.shtml

Ive been told of the USB programer as well but chances are you will just be sent a charger to exchange.

When you say yellow right away....Are you talking under load? Or even after a charge you are in yellow? Even with the new pack I was given I still sag into the yellow.

It's going to be hard to find a DOT LED replacement front light. I've never seen LED "bulb" replacements for headlights. It tends to always be a full housing made for LEDs because of need for heat displacement. Ebay has a number of LED head lights / work lights that would work. These guys are dirt cheap but not DOT or a headlight. But does have great light output. A number of ebay vendors sell these lights so shop around for the best price.

Does it look like this? http://stashbox.org/555883/10952921019.png

If so I think it just watch's high and low voltage no balancing is done. Im not 100% sure the new one here is doing balance but I have to guess it is because the metal plate warms during charge. If you want to watch your pack a little more grab a Cycle Analyst I have one on my Zero.

I'm going to have to counter-sink this screw on top for better fitment.

I don't think you can do it. Would just be a few miles under but might make it on limp.  Even just a 1 hour charge would get you home. I do not own a DS. so I shouldnt comment but I did.

It only got $17mil so far with the round still open.

according to zero my old pack was balanced great but the cells had lost a large amount of capacity. So I think it going to be a time problem more then anything about balance with these packs. The main thing that sucks is if you ever need to get to the cells we are shit out of luck. I don't think one can take apart the pack to get to a bad cell with out mucking the heck out of everything.  If it worries you start looking for other options as far as replacment go. And ass load of R/C batts seems fun.

I'm not sure you could get Zero to sell it stand alone, And because of the potting I have no clue who makes this BMS. You do have a few after market options you could give a try. Does your pack not stay balanced now?

The XU has some major changes over the X/MX take a look at the battery connector it wont work with a 2009/2010 X/MX battery.

Also the 2011 new dash.

I wonder why it did not make it belt driven as it has done with the other street bikes? Also I love the new bigger front and rear brake! I bet that changes things a good amount for street. Looking forward to attempting to get a rear street tire out of them.

It now seems to call the power pack as Intelligent.... "Z-Forceâ„¢ Patented Li-Ion Intelligent Power Pack"
