1 important question I would looove to have clarified:

How does a SevCon 6 2012 ZF9-S compare to a stock 2013 S-Model?

2
I would really love to see a comparison chart of 0-30 and 0-60 times (with same rider weight) for
- stock 2012 S ZF9
- stock 2012 S ZF6
- stock 2012 S ZF9 - sevcon 6
- stock 2013 S ZF8
- stock 2013 S ZF11
- stock 2013 S ZF11 - sevcon 6 (hollywood indigo package)
- all other 2013 models FX, etc ...

is something like this out somewhere?

3
Ohkay, I understand - thank you for the explanation.
I'll save my money for the sevcon 6 next year :)

4
Will the topspeed change in any way? I guess not - right?
Will the sustained speed (before running into temp warning) stay the same at ~112km/h or increase/decrease for some reason?

I love the idea of the flashlight switch to be used to switch eco/sport and breaklight at once.
Can someone tell me how to modify this the best way?

6
Can someone give me a link in the forum or inet where I can learn about how to connect to the sevcon controller and see/modify those settings seen in the first post?

Thank god we finally have a comparisson - still I am missing the drag-video where you see the "The Empulse left the Zero for dead in an acceleration" thing clearly ...

I drove the 11.4 Zero last weekend here in Germany and I was beaten by my friends Ninja 600 so easily at the trafficlight-sprint  :( I just hate the off-the-line performance of Zero, the new 2013 is a blast in any ways except the off-the-line thing ...

But anyway - I'm still on 2012 model, so I'll wait for a used 2014 bike in a few years and put more miles on my 2012-zf9 until then ...

I was not exclusively talking about some official media testing both machines - I am a big newmedia fan and I still hope some blogger/ev-enthusiast takes the leap here and does a nice review and comparrison of both ...

I absolutely don't get it - why does it take ages for someone somewhere on this planet to compare these 2 most promising mass-market e-bikes against each other. I am a big Zero fan - I fear that Brammo might take the performance crown for 2013 - but I want the facts ...

Guys, I'm approaching the from a different angle. I salvaged a retractable 4m power cable from a vaccum cleaner and am in the process of making it fit.

Any news on the vacuum-cleaner-cord-rollcage conversion? I would love that :)

I would be very much interested too - I wrote a message to hollywood electrics - no response yet :(

Thanks for the clarification of the "chip running full" problem - but I still don't get the consequences of that. I want to decide whether to built myself a quick-sport/eco-regen-switch as well or not.

- what happens when the chip "runns full" to the operationing of the zero?
- how can a "full chip" be "fixed" and what would it cost?

thanks, Christian

WTF?!?

I simply can't believe this lineup - this is really breathtaking.
If you look at the progress from 2011 over 2012 to 2013 this is amazing.

I am kicking my ass for buying the 2012 model s-ZF9 right now (which is still in replacement of recall stuff) :(

I love the new models ...

Question: As I am not far away from Cologne, do you know if we can test ride the new models on Intermot? If so I would drive there tomorrow.

400 km freeway range is a ways away.

Lightning claims 120 Wh/mile = 75 Wh/km on the freeway. They have good aero. 400 km needs at least 30 kWh to make in a single trip.

NTS has a prototype solution for tightly packaging cylindrical cells, shown with Panasonic NCR 18650 250 Wh/kg in a 15 kWh pack. If we can double energy density (Wh/L) in 5-10 years then we should be able to do 30 Wh.

Thanks Protomech for making me a bit optimistic :)

I'm also pursuing my goal of having a handle bar lever switch to momentarily go to ECO from SPORT modes when dirt riding.

My manual (2012 S) says that the bike needs to be stopped and key off to switch modes.  no?

My manual says the same (2012 s ZF9) BUT everybody on this board seems to switch during driving - I do the same now .. I got used to switch to sport at every full stop and switch back to eco while driving .. I would LOOOVE to have a firmware which just has more recu in sport mode ... I hate eco acceleration - it's so slow it's dangerous ...
