I just bought an FXS.
The owners manual shows a parking brake on some models. Mine does not have one.
I'm curious as to which models have that, and whether it's something that could be retrofitted. It seems like it might be useful. I realize there's nothing actually holding the bike when it's parked so I don't see how I can park on any kind of slope.

Zero also sells a Brake Lever Lock, but I prefer the Grip-Lock. It locks the throttle and allows you to use the front brake lever as a secure end for a heavy duty lock cable.

I just use a length of Velcro strap and wrap it around my front brake lever and throttle to keep the bike from rolling away on a slope after squeezing the lever hard to lock the brake. Light, cheap and it works, assuming that you are not looking for some sort of locking security device.

Thanks. I had not been through all the pages of accessories.
A front-brake lock won't hold on a steep uphill slope. I was thinking to pack a "sprag" to put through the rear spokes, but the parking brake, if adjustable, might solve my other problem - backing the bike down a narrow ramp.

With a powerful electric motor, I don't understand why there isn't a mode where the motor applies counter torque if the bike is moved. That would make a great parking brake...

The parking brake accessory is far better than a front brake lever lock. But at $600 with some tricky installation elements, I can understand reticence.
I’ll try to show how it works when I’m done traveling... along with my reverse mode.

It would also eat battery power while your bike sits there.

Zero specifically mentions this in a manual — applying throttle to hold bike on the incline will damage the motor.

A length of Velcro around the throttle grip and front brake lever is the cheapest / easiest way to stop the bike from rolling while keyed off. And you can wrap it around the handlebar between the clamps while driving.

Get a velcro cable bundle fastner of appropriate size. Put it around the right grip holding a compressed front brake lever. Works great, even on a dsr with the handguards. Cost about eighty cents and stores right on the handlebar.

I use the Zero plastic lock on both left and right brake levers, that will hold on any hill and really helps if you need to turn around on a hill climb and try again. They can be easily released as needed. I tie them with string so they are handy but can't fall off.
