Buy Sell Trade / Re: 2011 zero xu $2500 I'll pay shipping to you!
« on: April 18, 2014, 09:11:24 PM »
I guess it all depends on price right?  I would like to not part out but if anyone is interested in the frame only and I sell the battery by itself, that would work.  Send me a PM.  I'll be putting the whole thing up on ebay soon, but wanted to offer a discount to the Emotorcycleforum group first.

Hello All,

Up for sale is 2011 zero xu located in central florida.  Why do I get so bored with projects? I dream and dream of them and when I finally get it a few months later I sell them. Up for sale is my 2011 Zero XU has about a 1000 miles on it. Batteries constantly plugged in and charged. Who wants it? First $2500 gets it. Runs great. The only issues are a Controller Area Network error (not sure what that is) and one tube on the fork that may need replacing. Bike runs great, and the fork/CAN error does not effect anything that I notice. Send best offer. Hate to see it sitting in the garage not being used. Would make a great commuter!

Tech Help / Digital Display 2011 xu. Change to MPH
« on: November 13, 2013, 08:42:10 PM »
Hello All,

Can anyone offer any assistance changing my 2011 zero XU from KPH to MPH?  I found a manual online (not Zero specific) and it says to hold down adjust and select for five seconds and then you should be able to change it.  When I do that I grow straight into the wheel size.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ken

Yes totally.

I do have a question about the digital display and unfortunately dont have a manual and searching hasnt come up with the answer.  How do I change it to MPH instead of KPH?  Also when I turn it on it flashes K2 for a few seconds and then changes.  Do I need to worry about that?

thanks

Thanks for everyone's help.

I checked the fuses and all wires.  I was able to get the display working when replacing one of the 58v 10 amp fuses that must have fell out.

The fault may still be there, will need to doublecheck the wiring again when I get home.

This forum is great!

Tech Help / Controller Area Network (CAN) Error
« on: October 12, 2013, 07:05:06 AM »
Hello All,

I have a 2011 xu that was in a small fender bender.  I recently replaced a few components including a smashed display.  When I plugged in the new display it does not work.  Checking the manual with the corresponding error codes I see that the bike is reporting a Controller Area Network (CAN) Error.  Anyone have any idea what this is referring to?

thanks

Ken

Here is Supports answer below:

Hi Ken,
The sport wire isn’t used on this model.  The switch is basically as you’ve done (half and comm).  The comm wire is the common wire.  That said, the switch is basically an on/off or open/closed type switch.  If you get a switch similar to ours, the common will go on the negative side and the half on the other side (sport remains disconnected).

Do you have any parts you want to sell after your mods?  I have a 2011xu that I would like to keep stock.

thanks

Yes I agree.

The owners manual is way to basic.

Any one know how the econ/sport switch is wired on a 2011 xu?

Since my econ switch is broken I tried to directly wire (bypass switch) the leads. There are three wires: half, sport, and comm.

I first tried connecting sport and comm together, which to my surprise stopped the throttle from working.  I originally thought I blew a fuse, fried something.  Disconnecting the sport comm connection everything worked correctly.

I then tried connecting half and comm, which probably put it in econ mode.  Since I think the default is econ nothing changed.

Does anyone know what kind of switch it is?  My next test will be to combine all three together, but want to check before I try.

thanks

Ken
