My bike died with the dreaded 2-4 error a little while ago.  Picked it up today from Streetbike and I'm back in business!

A huge thanks to Streetbike in Birmingham UK for their usual more than excellent service. And also to Zero for replacing the BMS under warranty.

Cheers All!

I wouldn't worry about black holes colliding in a few billion years. I've just read that the universe might itself tear apart before then, due to an ever increasing rate of expansion. Ride while the sun shines!

My 2012 ZF9 failed once due to the ingress of water into the battery compartment and has again failed due to an as-yet undiagnosed problem.  It has done less than 5500 miles and is well looked after, garaged and kept on charge.

The failures are not the reason I would advise against buying the bike.  The design of the BMS system is.

Essentially, there seems to be a range of conditions which will cause the throttle to immediately disable.  It doesn't matter if you are on a busy road or in the middle of nowhere, the bike just stops.  It happened to me once on a wet, busy road at night and again recently, albeit in less dramatic circumstances.

I think this is potentially dangerous and so until the BMS is redesigned (unlikely), I advise looking at later models.

Wish I could be more positive!

Done!

Streetbike got back to me today with the expected news. No warranty is given with the replacement waterproofed BMS and no upgrade scheme available here in the UK.

Looks like a dead-end for now...

OK so here we go again...  Left my 2012 ZF9 for 10 days on charge in dry garage whilst I was away on hols.  Just tried to fire up, but now getting the dreaded 2-4 throttle disable fault.  Charger and display indicate full charge and all ok.  Interestingly throttle works during power up, but cuts out as soon as sequence finishes.

Zero replaced battery pack and fitted new waterproof BMS in January, but the bike has still only completed 5000 miles.  I know there is no water in the pack this time, so at a complete loss as to the problem.

I did notice the BMS lights are different - just the left red led flashing briefly once every half second or so.  I couldn't see that pattern specified, but maybe someone more knowledgeable might recognize it?

Just feeling a somewhat gutted!  I'll call Streetbike tomorrow and see if they can offer any advice.

No idea I'm afraid.  Around here, most of the bike riders of all kinds are over 40....

MostlyBonkers, was something mentioned to you perhaps?

Streetbike get my vote.  Actually for any dealership I have used, not just Zero.

Got to ride the ZF12.5 SR yesterday.  Have to admit it's a huge step forward from my 2012 ZF9! I think it's early days for the guys at Motorden also. They are going to email me pricing and I'll ask about 2012 model trade-in then.

I understand the bikes are still at Motorden,  London.  I'm in London this weekend and am hoping to get a ride.  Anything to look out for? (Apart from lack of traction control!)

Great news Vanessa. Congratulations.  It's good to hear when Zero get it right.  As with the 2012 battery issues, it seems to me that the motor glitch represents a serious safety hazard and should qualify for a free fix for all affected.

It sounds as if the day was a great success, except for MostlyBonkers.  Sympathies, my friend, your foot looks a little like mine did after an altercation with a Fiat Uno on a crossroads in Bologna many years ago. Much the same result.

I'm really gutted I couldn't make it, not least to meet some of you guys.  But it's been great to hear your impressions of the bikes.  Love my 2012, but can see need to start saving for later model...

I'm sure all are welcome.  Just email Erik.  Unfortunately I can't make it - a bit gutted.
