New charging bits
« on: June 29, 2015, 03:28:54 AM »

My new Type 2 socket and charging cable. J1772 is not popular here in the UK, so I needed a more European solution. ;)

Yep.
Its an extended J1772 protocol designed to handle both single and triple phase power.
You won't find the older single phase J1772 plugs here in the UK (or on mainland Europe) as a result.

Its all being mounted into a GIVI topbox, along with the charger. I'll take some shots when I've finished the project.

Until then, it looks a bit more like this... (The Elcon is over the other side of the bike)
This was taken part way through a couple of hundred mile run out to Wales.

If you can post the parts used and how you juryrigged it to work you can make a lot of European riders very happy.

The only thing you need is a correctly wired up Mennekies port. I got this part from here. http://evbitz.uk/EVBitz.uk/Welcome.html

Really seriously nice chap, and more than happy to discuss options on the cable. If you mention me, it might help him work out what you need.

Basically I got the cable off him partially complete, and then added the connectors needed for the bike and ELcon myself.
