Hi all, I created a new section for the 2013's. BSDThw PM'd me about the idea and I also saw the thread on the forum about starting to break out Zero sections.
http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?board=35.0 (http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?board=35.0)
For now I think this is a good way to divide things up. Let's see how it goes. Let me know if you have any other ideas.
Looking forward to posts on the 2013's! ;D

Good. Zero bikes have grown and evolved significantly over the last 8 ish years.. 2006-2013. 2013 is a good inflection point for Zero as they have matured tremendously over the last several years. Each year they switch out more and more of the holdover components .. for 2013 they've completely excised the brushed motors, replaced (on the S/DS) the fencerail seat they've been using since 2006, replaced the Delta-Q charging brick in use since the first street-legal bikes in MY 2009, significantly improved high speed efficiency, added CHAdeMO quick charging interfaces. Designs like the 2012 BMS, 2013 smartphone integration and heterogenous module handling really showcase their improving design work.
-
I have to say im against the idea. I don't think the Zero community is big enough yet to support 2 boards and alot of the threads will be relevant to both 12 and 13 owners. It just leads to confusion as to where you should post.
-
Thanks Skadamo. That was a good idea and will help keep our posts much more organized and easier to find in the future. Now what about those 2014 models? ;D
-
Divide up
-
Good Idea, Most motorcycle forums split forums up when major model changes happen. probably best to have one for each year model if zero keeps updating the bike each year.
-
Yep, good idea to split up Skadamo
The Germans are always good at organizing things ;D
Vielen Dank!!!

It's not true! You should see how my tinker room looks like :o

Might feel awkward at fist but probably a good move.
Please take some 10 minutes to move the 2013 to the right board then, Skademo (or other admin) ;) At least the ones with a clear description stating it's about them -13.
-
Thanks for the feedback all. Seems mostly positive. If it turns bad we can merge it all back. I think it will work out well though.
And yes, I will move the 2013 related topics over.
-
Think I moved most of the 2013 posts. :D Maybe report any others you see with the "report to moderator" link and I'll move those too? Thanks!
-
It would make more sense do this when there is a critical mass of 2013 riders.
-
soon - I hope. 1000 in Oz ... ;)
-
Been thinking about it and it's not time yet. Not enough Zero owners yet. Still building the community.
The time to do this is when the threads diverge by year and model to the point where forum users get lost. We'er not there yet.
Do it now and it will create the sense of a small community of Zero owners as there are so few 2013 owners so far.
Give it a year.
-
I have a different point of view. I think it is important to establish a forum where future owners and prospective owners of the 2013 Zeros can go to in order to immediately find information on the new models. That way they don't have to dig through the posts on the older bikes to find the information on the new models that they might be interested in. Even speculation about the 2013 bikes by our members might be of value to someone considering the purchase of a new Zero. I think this is the right time to get the 2013 forum organized, before it is really needed by new owners. I support the decision to subdivide the Zero forum. :)
-
One possible issue is that we tend to discuss general interest topics, both Zero-related and non-Zero-related on this subforum.. combined, this subforum and the 2013 subforum have 20x as many posts as the next most active subforum. That's a lot of posts to lump into a single subforum.
I would actually suggest creating a top-level Zero forum, and then split the Zero subforums into at least 4 sections: 2011 and earlier, 2012, 2013, general Zero. Looking at the entire forum stats (http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?action=stats), there was a huge uptick in posting in Jan/Feb 2012. You get one guess as to what event prompted that surge of activity. The 2011 and earlier posts tend to be buried under 2012 and general discussion.
-
I want to hear about all the Zero info; and I don't want it to be difficult to navigate around.
I suppose I can set up multiple browser tabs, each resting in the various Zero forums/sub-forums, that seems reasonable.
Is there a way with this board for a user to "merge" multiple forums into a single view?
-
I've started accessing the board by the following URL:
http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?action=unread (http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?action=unread)
This shows all unread forum posts. Sometimes this will pull up messages unrelated to the Zeros, but the Zero activity here dominates everything else. You can open each unread message thread in a new tab to proceed, then click 'mark all messages read' when done.
-
hmm, let me experiment with a few options and come back...
-
Bear with me while I propose a few ideas to address these concerns.
Solution #1:
Do any of you use an RSS reader such as http://www.google.com/reader (http://www.google.com/reader) ?
If so, subscribe to this…
http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?action=.xml;sa=recent;boards=6,35;type=rss2 (http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?action=.xml;sa=recent;boards=6,35;type=rss2)
This will list all the posts in the 2012 and the 2013 Zero boards.
RSS is pretty powerful these forums. Check this out for more options…
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=25009.0 (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=25009.0)
I will look for some more solutions in addition to this…
-
Huh? ???
Trikester
BTW - Since I have a 2010 DS, a 2012 DS, and will soon have a 2013 FX, I will still be interested in all of those years.
-
OK, or there is this idea. I created a page that has a list of all the posts from both boards....
http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/Zero-Motorcycles-Posts.php (http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/Zero-Motorcycles-Posts.php)
I could link to it from the home page. You could bookmark it. I could put it in the nav menu.
Any better? :D
-
Sorry Skadamo,
I didn't consider it will make so much issues, next time I will be more cautious :-X
-
@BSDThw haha no problem. This is great feedback and we can see where it goes.
-
Well, you have to admit, the EMF is turning into more of a Zero forum than about any other model. The Brammo Owners Forum gets the Brammo posts and if there is anyone owning any other electric motorcycle around, they aren't posting much on the other brand sub-forums. Sort of makes you wonder where we are going. Right now it seems to me like we are going to Zero land. ;) What will the future bring? ;D
-
A List of all Zero Motorcycles posts form all boards
Ah, but you typo'd "from". tsh, tsh.

Damn it. That will teach me to publish without a Brammofan proof read.

@Richard230 yeah lots of Zero posts which is a good problem to have. :D
