Title: FXS front brake pulsating
Post by: Say10 15FX 16FXS on February 28, 2016, 01:17:38 AM
Finally got to ride the FXS properly today but the front brake is pulsating like a motherf**ker! Seems worse at low speed while gently applied. Not the ABS, it feels like the rotor is made out of two different materials! Same brakes as the S/SR I think. Has this happened to anyone else?

The '15 SR I rode last October did exactly the same thing, and the '15 FX I tried out later that day didn't do it at all.

My Triumph Bonneville and my BMW F650GS both do that. So far I have had to replace 4 brake discs on the Triumph and 2 on the BMW.  >:( Apparently you just can't get good Chinese brake disc material any more.  ??? If the brake lever doesn't pulsate as you are braking, then the problem is a "hot spot" on the disc material.  You might be able to partially correct that by thoroughly cleaning the disc material and roughing it up with a plastic pot scrubber.   ???  If the brake lever pulsates, then your disc is warped and you will need to replace it for sure. There is no way to fix a warped disc.   :(
