Other Electric Motorcycles / NXT Motors
« on: June 20, 2016, 01:25:51 AM »
A Dutch startup is raising money through crowdfunding to build a new Electric Motorcycle.

They want to present their product (most likely a mock-up) in EICMA this year.

General Discussion / Will your next motorbike fly? Meet Hoverbike
« on: November 28, 2015, 11:57:45 PM »
Hi,

I just came across this site and was impressed with their designs. The prototype uses ICE drive but the production model will be electric (if it is ever built)
http://www.hover-bike.com/MA/

I searched the forum and found one other thread discussing a Hover Bike and that was an idea from KTM!

So the Energica Motor Company will be a public company soon and the below article shows some numbers on their production plans.
So if you have some money to invest and you like the business plan of Energica you can soon own their stock!

2015: 8 pre-production bikes sold
Today: second pre-production round
March 2016 start of regular production of EGO
May 2016 start of regular production of EVA
2016: 238 bikes planned
2017: 651 bikes planned
2021: 5000 bikes planned

Further points of interest:
They aim to be and remain an exclusive brand (analogy with Ferrari is made)
They target the markets with the best charging infrastructure, California is their main market
Proceeds of the IPO will be used to create the production facilities and continue R&D

Use your favourite translator as the article is in Italian

And you can even download the investor presentation if you want to participate in their IPO (or are just curious like me):

General Discussion / Los Angeles riding tips
« on: November 04, 2015, 03:56:55 AM »
Hi,
I will visit Los Angeles from 6 to 12 November for business reasons and have rented a motorcycle to do the commuting (I heard traffic is terrible there and that lane splitting is legal in California). I tried to find an electric bike but nobody is renting them out :-(

It is my first visit to Los Angeles and I would like some tips on good routes to ride. Gpx files are welcome too. I will do some rides after work or before.

My main touristic attraction will be to visit the world famous electric motorcycle shop: "Hollywood Electrics" of course [emoji3]
I have some free time on Saturday so I  hope that I can find the shop and that they don't mind me parking an ICE bike in front...

Thanks

Energica / Impressive Energica roadtrip
« on: July 17, 2015, 04:50:55 PM »
Hi,
I noticed on Twitter that the Dutch Energica importer did a 605 kilometre road trip in 1 day using the Dutch fast charge infrastructure from FastNed.

See his twitter account: https://twitter.com/E_Motorcycles
and this: http://my.motortourer.com/en/trip/95-first-ride-white-the-electric-energica-ego

Fast charging rocks!

General Discussion / Tanktwo battery technology
« on: March 30, 2015, 01:43:45 AM »
Has anyone else seen the Tanktwo site already?

Will it work or is it a hoax? (almost April 1st and the site is somewhat suspicious to me...).

If it's for real though it could be a great power source for cars, scooters, motorcycles and other EV's! I only wonder if you can achieve a high power density with these balls. Seems like you are waiting a lot of space.
And how about thermal management?

Check the video on:

General Discussion / The Dutch invest to in Zero?
« on: February 20, 2015, 06:12:59 PM »
The Netherlands and California are planning to jointly invest in the innovation of electric vehicles.
The aim is to set up an Electric Vehicle Investment Fund (EVIF).
The plan is to deposit €24 million in the EVIF. Six million will be provided by the Netherlands, the rest by the state of California and investment firms.

« on: February 14, 2015, 06:04:38 PM »
I have been seeing some messages from various people announcing their participation in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2015.

So I thought to open a thread here to keep track of all the electric bikes participating and their progress.

So far:
Buckeye Current Racing
Hollywood Electrics / Brandon Nozaki Miller

Let's hope many more will join!

Other Electric Motorcycles / Volta is back?!
« on: February 14, 2015, 05:41:49 PM »
After more than 1,5 years of complete silence it seems that Volta is back.

They posted this on facebook:

After long time without hearing from us we are happy to announce you that we’re back!
The road had been long and plenty of obstacles, but we overcame all these challenges.
We know that we are in debt with all of you and for this reason, we are working hard to be on the market very soon.
We recently started the production process and we will keep you informed in detail in the coming weeks.

https://www.facebook.com/voltamotorbikes

But if they come to market with the bike as it was 2 years ago then they are way behind on the competition. In any case it will be interesting to see what they will announce!

I came across this pdf and I think it's a very nice description of the bike and a bit of the history.
