Maybe it is luck (or lack thereof)*, both my last two belts lasted just 7k miles on ordinary roads at ordinary trundling speeds.

Cas :)

On which bike?  I recall a message here that the SR/F had a string of bad belts from the factory that was later fixed.

I seen it now.
Ouch, yah that did sound expensive, I don't care which brand of bike it is, they ALL are proud of their plastic.  Probably a brake lever and foot pedal too.  Id throw in a handle bar insert too.

Thankfully he's not injured, or didn't appear to be.
Wonder how he lost it, obvious lowside but how did it happen, im curious.

Michael, I am going to take a leap of faith and say you are correct.
With a key bike, the only way to turn it on, is to turn the key, there is no button push thingie.

Just because a belt doesn't look worn does not mean it is not.  The newer synthetic materials they use now don't always show wear the way the old fashioned belts do, and you know it's weak when you are stranded somewhere.

Also be careful when testing to see if the fuse is good.  I have seen some of the cheaper continuity testers, put enough current thru the fuse when testing very low amperage fuses, to actually blow them with the testing voltage /current.   180 mA fuses,  250 mA fuses.  315 is close enough it might be at risk too.

Always check both sides of the fuse, not just voltage across it, and being such a small value, it's not always going to read zero Ohms either, Ive seen some fuses read 4 or 5 ohms and they were good, the high reading was because they were for such small current.

EDIT: What I suggested in my earlier post (bike recording charges / calculating SoH) was wrong.
I went to my dealer yesterday to let them download the bike's data for the warranty promo. He explained to me that a reliable SoH calculation is not an easy thing to do.

They have a '20 EGO in the showroom there with 20,000 km belonging to a client who asks 17,000 € for it. He doesn't think it will sell anywhere near this price.
He also told me about a customer who bought a used Zero S (several years old with about 5,000 km) and the battery died only some weeks after the sale. In the end it was repaired but cost the client somewhere around 2k.

I think we all agree that not knowing the SoH of the battery in a used EV is the main reason why people are reluctant to buy. Objectively this is nonsense because you cannot 'look into' the engine of an IC vehicle either, or am I wrong?

What I totally fail to understand is, why manufacturers did not see that coming and set up something to redeem that. I mean, there is an opportunity to sell some kind of service!
