Sorry if this is old hat, but has anyone tried Zero's higher speed gearing option (http://"http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_6&products_id=181&zenid=h2h5mdqdho3evdecgs1d4npv16")?
Not looking to go faster than 102, but I wouldn't mind trading a little torque for some range. I upgeared my beloved '02 ZX9R and the bike still pulls like a peach, and can get nearly 50mpg on road trips, and it actually made the speedometer more accurate as well.
I notice they're offering it for the S & DS models. Is there a reason it's not offered for the SR? Since the platform is identical, it should still bolt directly on, yes?

If I understand it correctly, that is the STOCK setup on the "R" models already.

Thanks, that makes sense. Are there higher gearing aftermarket options for the SR and might they enhance the range?

I spoke to Harlan at the NYC IMS show this past Sunday and he said he expects them to start shipping around January/February. Read through the thread because there is a post where he explains how to get on their notification list. I'm thinking my wallet should be sufficiently recovered from the holidays by the time they start shipping...

Thanks, I saw that. Appears about as aerodynamic as a barn door, but that's almost certainly more aero than a barechested rider.
I've already been on the lookout for lower, more forward, sportier bars. This SR is even more upright than my old-man bike (BMWF800GT.)

I know what you mean about the old man position... its far too upright. lol
You can get clipons to lower the controls, but then they would hit the "tank wings" or "radiator shrouds" or whatever they're called.
So then you need to put a new tank cover on too... it all snowballs fast, thats why its rarely done.
as far as looking like a barn door, the nose of that fairing looks alot like the 08-11 Honda CBR1000RR fairing nose. Extremely aero, but because it appears blunt its not seen as such. it works well though. If you're talking about how the windscreen is 2.5 times higher than anything sensible, thats mostly because of the bolt-upright riding position.

Right. ElectricTerry has already tested the prototypes and saw a 15%-20% range improvement and that's HUGE as far as I'm concerned.
