Buy Sell Trade / 2014 Zero S For Sale
« on: May 23, 2019, 05:45:56 AM »
Sadly I must sell for something that is more practical to my new location (snow 9 months out of the year).
Best commuter I've ever owned.  16,000 miles.  Lots of little extras on the bike.  Asking $9000 OBO.
Bike is in Utah at the dealership.

What is the safest (widest?) Tire combo for the 2014S?  What exact sizes for front and back?
I went with Pilot Road 4's
120/60 front and 160/60 rear.

Shortened snowmobile handlebars were from Fly racing.

A brass bell for the jaywalking pedestrians and a Screaming Banshee for the texting cagers.

Anybody have any experience with anti-lock brakes on a motorcycle?  My last bike had a linked braking system which I liked (even though it probably gave me some lazy brake habits).  Could older Zeros be retrofitted with the ABS from the 2015's?  Would something like this aftermarket traction control braking kit be worthwhile?

Having a service Manual would be a big help, every motorbike I Have owned I have been able to purchase or download for free service manuals.
We should at least be able to fault find to module level, every device has an inbuilt processor and must have its own diagnostics.
Digital mulitmeters ($30) are cheap and even digital oscilloscopes ($400) are not expensive these days.

I love my dealership but I don't understand why Zero (and others) don't just sell directly to the consumer like Tesla.  If you are trying to bring cost down you don't want a bunch of middlemen.  The local dealer can still make plenty off me in tires, brakes, accessories, clothing, helmets, etc.

Doug,
I was considering the exact same thing (even same phone).  However, I ended up pre-ordering one of these helmets instead.  I love the rear view camera on my truck for backing up, trailering, etc.  I would look for the following; waterproof, infrared, high def, and wide viewing angle.

I wonder why electric motorcycles haven't tried taking over support for events like Tour de France, Kona Ironman, etc.  Seems like huge exposure to the right audience.  I'm sure the racers would prefer quiet support vehicles without tailpipes as well.

I'm starting to think Elon Musk might be the next Henry Ford.

Burton thank you very much for sharing this.  I plan on taking the bike apart this winter and your diagram will definitely make things much easier.
