Title: Question about quick chargers from a newbie
Post by: Emtkopan on September 13, 2016, 04:06:47 AM
I hear everyone talking about quick chargers but do you still have to use a quick charger and your regular charger or is it just the quick charger? If it's both then how dl you guys find two plugs when you are not at home?

You don't have to use both at the same time.  But you need to get the contactor closed somehow and depending on which quick charger you are talking about that's accomplished in different ways (use onboard, turn bike on, use enable feature).

Also, it's actually not as hard I thought it would be to find two outlets when fast charging...a lot of RV parks have 120v 30 amp and 120v 15 amp plugs right next to the 240v 50 amp...and there are many public chargers that have multiple J1772 stations so you can plug fast charger into one and onboard to another (using an adapter)

Here I am charging at an RV park using the DigiNow super charger and onboard (240v 50 amp and 120v 30 amp using the purple adapter). You can see the 120v 15 amp plug next to the 120v 30 amp which I didn't use because I was tripping the GFCI.

Great to see another Zero rider at an RV park!  I look forward to the day when this will be considered almost normal!  (I know, I know, it's a long ways off.)
