Buy Sell Trade / Re: Screw Tray Organizer for Zero Motorcycles SR/S 2021

Nice 👍

Nice  8)
Where did you get those?
Especially the Bar Ends?
(I couldn't make out the lettering)

Guess you didn't try the Zero CenterStand?
I found it lacks leverage, to lift the bike.

Anyone tried the T-Rex CenterStand?

I have the Zero [MRA] Touring Screen.
It does require you to tuck, just a bit, to avoid the helmet buffeting.
It’s mostly a highway piece, as you do get extra noise on street (un-tucked).

I installed w/o the Perimeter Molding.
Would that molding improve deflection?
or
Is it just for negative cosmetics?

OTW home tonight I used sport.
The high speed turnpike route I use is full of construction so there was only one place to try top speed, right at the end. With motor and battery at low temp, 50% SOC tried maximum speed starting from a base of 90mph. It was at 115 at the end of that run. Subjectively it felt exactly the same, and objectively the top speed was the same. Not science, just observations.

You might be the only guy on here pushing Top Speed.
Have you ever done a GPS App verification, to compare against the Speedometer reading?
I'll do same, next time I'm on highway (but not all the way to top speed ; )

Great Info!

After past FW Power/Torque loss issues, I switched to Sport to minimize the losses.
I stayed w/ Sport, after the issues got resolved in latest FW.
Lately been playing with Custom to get Less Regen (setting to 18% in app) as I prefer to slow via brakes.

So hilarious but mostly sad   :(

I can only imagine how badly they would have botched the Ignition Replacement job, had you taken it to them.
Then they assume you did a worse job than their inept techs   >:(

Not to jinx myself, but my SR/S has been rock-solid (I assume most peoples experience is similar).
I was just reviewing my maintenance records and the only think i've done is rear-pads, because of squeaking.
Unfortunately, the Ferodo replacements, might even squeak worse  ::)

If i had to nit-pick, I guess some issues are moisture stains, inside the Headlights & LCD Panel.
I never even rode in rain, but I gave up caring about that minor cosmetic issue, after I realized what a nightmare it would be to seek a warranty claim.

Even if the bikes are mostly maintenance & trouble free, is no excuse for the horrific Customer Support.
With Zero dealers being so inept, Zero needs to be more involved in supporting Dealers & Customers.

By the way. I met my Zero dealer last week, he was surprised that I could buy the parking mode on my own, without the need of entering a dealer code. I suppose the margin is now all by Zero headquarters.
Do you have Parking Mode enabled now?
If so, what was involved?

.... Last time, the bike was rendered unusable. It was locked up somehow, and the dealer had to come get it, reset something, and put the updates in. ....

Similar happened to me.
My bike stayed ON but Non-Responsive, all night, after a failed FW Update.
Even removing all fuses had no effect.
Didn't disconnect the 12V, because the Terminal-Screws were overly-tight and I didn't want to break the Terminals.
Put it on a Tender to keep the 12V alive thru the night.

I called Zero the next day.
The friendly gal said to use the app to connect via BT and initiate a FW Update.
The only thing I hadn't tried  :-[
Well it worked and it reset the bike, making it useable again  :o

Kept me away from the dealer  ;D

+1 for New Dash FW being awful.
Old Dash is far superior.
I compared both thoroughly, on a '22 at the Dealer, and it killed any desire I had to upgrade to a '22.

A Zero tech did tell me (via email) that I could get "Parking Mode" and retain the old Dash FW.
Hope he is right...but I don't want to be the first one to try it  :-\

I wonder if there is a "secret" routine for Throttle Recalibration?

11
Good Idea.
I guess that's why Cars have their J1772 mounted sideways.

I don't hate that '23 color.
The '22 color was awful  IMHO.
Still think the 20/21 Blue is the best  8)

Also reporting v24/v20 FW update went smoothly.
Placing Phone on Charge Port (w/ Door flipped open) has been working so far... (coincidence?)

Bike seems to run great.
Only done short trips, since updating, so no complaints at moment.

You are right Don. The Delta Q charger is 850 watts. My home doesn't have 240Vs, just 120V. I still think that the OBC gets too hot for its own good when charging for a long time and that heat likely leads to one of its components failing eventually. I bet that if it had a fan to keep it cool it would last a lot longer. That Delta Q is a real brick. While it also gets pretty hot when charging, at least it has plenty of fins to keep it cool, especially when being used in my 60 degree F garage.

Friends don't let friends charge at 120v  ;)

Here is what you need to start charging at 220v, in any house (except for the one described by DonTom)
https://quick220.com/products/copy-of-model-a220-15d-plus-2-adapters-for-international-plugs
https://www.ebay.com/itm/304570594177?hash=item46e9d27381:g:LacAAOSw5-xifd7f

I've been using this myself, since the Volt days of 2016.
The Chevy EVSE only draws 12A (at 220v) making it safe for residential 15A Circuits.
You end up with 2.9kW charging, which was plenty for me; on a Volt, Bolt & SR/S.

The secret is, the Chevy EVSE (and probably all L1 EVSE) provide L2 [220V] charging, when you connect them to 220V.
So the cord that came w/ your Zero might work too.
It you want, I can test my Zero L1 cord and confirm.
(I had already loaded up on Chevy EVSE's before getting a SR/S.)

L1 EVSE are low draw [12A] so they can work with the Quick220 and normal 15A Circuits.
You just need to find (2) Circuits on different phases (for the Quick220), which isn't hard to do.
It's all vetted on the Volt Forums and Quick 220 has more info, on their web site, as well.

Any questions; PM me and/or post here.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Zero SR/F won't charge
« on: July 23, 2022, 11:01:55 AM »
Hey all, here's my final update and resolution:

After 4 months in the shop at Grand Prix Motorsports in Littleton, Colorado, my 2020 SR/F Premium was finally repaired.  That dealership also buys used motorcycles, so I negotiated the sale of the bike to them.  After 4 months, all I wanted in the worst way was for this to finally end.  I didn't haggle about the low price; I took their check and ran away as fast as I could.

I've been riding motorcycles for more than 40 years, and have never had an experience like this.  It's not possible to get a service manual; all Zero motorcycles must be serviced by Zero dealers.  I have precisely one Zero dealer within two hours drive of my home.  The dealer relies on Zero to diagnose problems remotely from California.  Zero typically takes a week or more to simply reply to the dealer, each time.  Zero sends replacement parts in such a way that it typically takes a week or two for a part to arrive.

It was not possible for me or anyone other than Zero to diagnose the problem, which apparently was an MBB problem.

Zero verbally chastised me for doing "unauthorized" modifications to my motorcycle, by installing aftermarket LED running lights, louder horns, and the eMoto Design dub-J charging kit.  I didn't realize I needed Zero's authorization to modify the bike.  Somehow I thought it was my bike...

My 2020 SR/F suffered from problems in rain (throwing codes, Check Engine Light, etc.), in addition to the common problems of front brake pulsing, terribly harsh suspension, etc.  The rain problems would always go away after the bike dried out, so there was no way I could get the dealer to see them.

So, with simply the "bike doesn't charge" problem, the bike was in the shop from March until July.

My Yamaha Super Tenere ES has been through rain, sleet, hail, intense sun, deep sand, and more, for nearly 51000 miles.  It's been into Mexico three times (it likes tacos!).  I have had no problems whatsoever with that bike.  My Zero cost far more, and took me a grand total of 9385 miles.

I will never buy a Zero again.  When Yamaha produces electric motorcycles, I'll be first in line.

So long, and thanks for all the fish,

 - Fred
Wow, so sad to hear about your experience.
On the flip-side I'm kind of impressed you got 9385 miles out of the SR/F ;D

I'm only at 1/3 of that mileage and I really love the bile now on v23 FW.
Figuring my days are numbered with it, but it's still my favorite motorcycle, of all I've owned.
If it ever ends up in a Dealer, I'll probably write it off then.

With your issues, I do wonder if it's the dealers letting Zero down, or Zero letting the dealers down.
I know the dealers are not capable of properly servicing the Zeros, so they definitely need better support, If Zero expects to save its brands reputation.

There are definitely better Electric Motorcycles on the way, so you did the right thing to get out of yours.
