Title: Zero Property Tax Confusion
Post by: ecavoli on July 08, 2019, 07:52:57 PM
Another funny consequence of officials knowing what the heck a Zero is... just got my CT motor vehicle tax bill, valuing my 17 FXS at $20,880.
First I thought it was just another new CT tax (supermoto tax?) they must have passed while I was sleeping.
Assessor didn't know where that number came from but mercifully lowered it back down to reality.

Should ask if they'd be willing to take it off your hands for that price...

Property tax is a town thing.  Your post is amusing, chances are Harley Davidson has a model with that same code.  I know my pick up truck is taxed in such a way the serial number is looked up and what various trim levels and options is factored in.  I think NADA is used in the assessment process.  The state of Ct may or may not deserve criticism.

Upon looking at the picture attachment it is called a model s not fxs

Yes, it is a town levied tax (the state of CT is an easy target when it comes to tax criticism, though :)
The assessor used NADA and corrected the model to FXS to come up with the corrected figure.

CT personal property tax.  It's easy to catch the big ticket items that have to be registered with the state, like a car or a motorcycle.

IIRC they have airplanes to spot things like new swimming pools, too.
