Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Experience riding SR/F in cold temperature

Hi there
I wonder about the experience of others, riding an SR/F in cold temperature.
First:
I have to park my SR/F outside, covered only with a hud.
Last winter I once needed to do some chores at a temperature of -3 Celsius (I don't own a car).
The 12V battery failed completely and I had to wait for warmer temperatures of >5 Celsius for quite a while.
I then changed the 12V battery in Summer at the dealer with an original battery. Dealer said, I wouldn't have the problem next winter.
This winter I need the bike for commuting. Temperatures went down and the bike was out as always.
It was a whole day at 0 Celsius and it left me on the way home - showed several different failure codes. I assumed it was a temperature problem. I waited a while, failure codes and messages changed finally to the message, the 12V battery being heated up.
After some minutes waiting at the road side, I could ride again - for may be 2 or 3 km until the same game started over again. And 1 or 2 km after that even again. After that I reached home. The "Check Engine Light" was activated with the first error codes and never went away, even when I could ride inbetween the 'failure-episodes'. I turned the bike off and left it, knowing that the Check-Engine-Light still was acitve when I turned the bike off.
Quite an unpleasant situation, being in a snowstorm in heavy laobur traffic being left by the bike.
I'm aware of the 'Cold and Hot Weather Considerations' in the manual. However - I still was within the recommendations.
I know - best thing would be to store it in a heated garage. But I don't have that ...
I'll wait for warmer temperatures and am hoping the Check-Enginge-Light is gone after a day in temperatures of >5 Celsius. Meanwhile I need to use public transportation which quadruples the time for coummuting ... :-(.
Nonetheless I wonder aobut experiences in such cold weather situations.
