That does look like part of it, I can't be sure. As I recall, there are more switches and buttons for Reverse, Bike Setup, and Cruise Control. But I don't remember ever seeing any LED on the control assembly. The lights were never off and no one mentioned it to me.
I know many Tesla vehicles are built in China and they don't have issues. Most of those cars go to Western Europe, Canada, and other Asian countries. There are lots of products that are well-made in China. Think iPhone. And lots of low quality. It depends on the manufacturer.
Many American cars have a history of poor quality as they are considered disposable products. This may be due to all the salt on the roads on the East Coast, but mid-west and West Coast cars last for years. West Coast owners demand quality cars as they last a much longer time.
You cannot attach the quality of a product to the country of origin. Italy makes some great cars and motorcycles. They also make some really poor cars such as Fiat and racing go-karts. The frames are the cheapest steel they can buy. England had Triumph which was low quality and cheap, and now sells Austin Martin which is top stuff. Germany has Porsche and BMW, but is also home to Volkswagen, the cheapest and poorest made of the bunch.
I consider "Chinesium", to be a slang, derogatory word used against people/products from China. It's a form of prejudice based on "xenophobia" or "discrimination based on nationality". As an American, I feel that the use of the word is in very poor taste and should not be used to describe products made by people of another country. Shame..
