When I "woke up" the bike I saw the "firmware update available" message and figured, why not, I had nowhere to be, so I clicked OK.  The console switched to a cool new "Updating Firmware" message.  2 Hours later, same message and no progress, and my Key would not respond (I could not turn the bike off).  I figured if I plugged in the L2 charger, perhaps it would trick the bike into a reset, and that worked (good news, no trip to the dealer!).  When I unplugged the charger I could turn the bike on and off again normally.

I was then able to use the app (iOS) to update BMS and MBB to the latest without issue (what I should have done in the first place).  So, if you get stuck like I did, plugging in the charge port might get you back to normal.

Then I cleared the error code 8 using the menu on the bike and went for a ride.

I assume it's probably my phone, but when I try to use turn by turn on my 2020 SR/F it always seems to shut off after 20 minutes or so.  I have the phone powered via USB so I assume power is not the problem.  I guess it could be cell coverage?  Anyone else seen this?  Other than turning off, it seems to work well  :).

I had the battery replaced under warrantee a few weeks ago and the shop updated all the firmware (dash, bike, bms).  I have to say, it really feels like a new bike!  It's so great to have the range back where it belongs (and then some) and I like the new dash.  The "free" turn-by-turn navigation works very well and I give it a thumbs up (certainly worth the price of $0.00 :) ).  I also really like the new plastics around the new battery as well, the bike just looks "cleaner" to me now (not that it was bad before).

I'll pay for the low speed parking mode next time I am near the shop (it's about an hour away).  It was a little disappointing to find I could not just order and download it from the store/app, but no big deal.

Hats off to my dealer (Mom's Indian/Zero in Tyngsborough MA), they really did a great job with the battery replacement and making my 4+ year old bike feel new again!

First try at my own creative update to the battery label :)

Hi all, I'm curious what the "status" command shows on the console for your bikes after battery replacement.  My data would seem to reflect I have a 17.3KWh battery set to 90% capacity when charged to 100%.  The "badge" on the battery is 14.4KWh, but I am fairly sure I have 15.6KWh.

When charged to 100% on the dash, the status command shows 89% and a capacity of 140.  I'm curious to see if this is consistent with other owners.  Since the original capacity showed 114 (new) and that's roughly 80% of the badge of 14.4, 140 would seem to reflect 17.3.

I've not had a chance to ride much since getting the bike home from the dealer post replacement.  I had to have retina attachment surgery last week and am chair bound for a little longer.  The ride home from the dealer was great though!

Seems it's not in the app anywhere I can find (unlike the older bikes), and I don't see it in my decoded logs.  I also could not find it in the Gen3 Console.  Any pointers?

Thanks in advance

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Tax rebates (historic)

The IRS audited me and rejected my claim of 2K+ for my 2020 SR/F (2019 return).  They did allow $7500 on my Honda Clarity that same year.  They claim the 2020 Zero Motorcycle is not eligible under IRC 30D(g).  Has anyone else run into this, and what did you provide to the IRS as proof of eligibility for the Zero?

Thanks in advance.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Winter Storage Status 2022?
« on: April 24, 2022, 04:45:48 AM »
I got my SR/F up from the basement yesterday and it did great in storage.  I had it hooked up all winter with the slow level 2 connector (120V in the US) with the max charge set to 60%.  This seems to have worked well as my 12v battery was still healthy and it was at 55% when I keyed it on.  I noticed the slow charger kicking in from time to time in the basement over the winter (I could see it blinking when active).

How did the rest of you do (or is it too soon!).

General Discussion / Anyone else with an Ioniq 5?
« on: April 07, 2022, 07:03:03 PM »
Off topic, but... Anyone else picked up an Ioniq 5?  On day two with mine and so far so good.  It's the first time I've seen my Juice Box Pro pull 39.5A!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / SR/F Tank Fix, more than I expected
« on: August 21, 2020, 03:50:52 PM »
So I finally got my tank lid replaced along with a new set of tires on my SR/F.  I have to say, the tank lid had a larger impact on the look of my bike than I expected.  It really looks different to me now, and I like it.  I really thought of it as a minor issue until now.  What a difference!

Looking for a good windshield for my SR/F.  I picked up an MRA Highway shield (19") but just can't find a good position that limits turbulence while avoiding excessive noise at the helmet.  I tried putting an extension on the shield, but could not get a stable mount (the extension would cause the MRA to tilt under speed, no matter how tight I had it tied down).  The helmet noise is just crazy with the shield on, it's off now.  So I guess I either need a shorter shield so the turbulence is lower, or a higher shield to get the turbulence over the helmet.  Has anyone found a good solution that solves both helmet noise and still gives good protection at speed?

My SR/F lives in the basement all winter and there is not much coverage down there for cell service.  Ideally I'd like to be able to get OTA updates from time to time during the winter if there are new ones.  Has anyone had any luck with any of the cheap RF based cellular repeaters on Amazon?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / SR/F Battery Drain in Storage
« on: November 29, 2019, 04:45:50 PM »
I've had my SR/F "put away" in my basement for about three weeks now, I've been checking the SOC once a week or so, and to my surprise, it has dropped from 45% to 41% just sitting there.  My DSR would sit all winter and not lose 1%.  Looks like I may end up having to top it off to keep it over 40%.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / SR/F Tank Fix?

Anyone set up to get their SR/F tank lid fixed yet?  I left a message at my dealer and got crickets so far.
