You need to be in pass word level 4 (of 5) to make critical changes in the Sevcon settings.

If you use the Sevcon SW it will automatical use the standart PW. If you use  CAN manually you need to know log in with the PW!

Also the MBB and BMS has PW levels.

Hi Lipo423,

to replace the BMS is no problem but it needs to be set correct to a ZF9 or ZF6.

4
There are 3 password levels but the mentioned one will help you for the lowest level. (also for 2013...)

As much as I remember it will not allow you to change settings you need level 2 or 3 :-X

OK I had a look to your cables - do you have charging station with 3A and C3? I never saw this types.

I think like you it will never fit for both- As I see you need always the cable for the station you have.

According to the site, I can use both
I don't see this information, or I misunderstand you - which part of the side make you think so?

You are in Europe and the BMW-Evolution is normally using a 230Vac connection?

Don't you need a Type 2 ?

I have built my own Type 2 to 230Vac or better 3*230Vac if necessary. If you need information let me know.

We don't have to use the 3Phase symmetrical!
A BMW i3 will pull 25A at one phase at the charging station :-[ But it was designed for US
Also your home has a 3Phase system and it is not symmetrical loaded.

I would connect the charger at the Sevcon Battery connections. I do the same with my 2012 but have to switch on the system/Sevcon - you have the advantage that since 2013 Zero is doing this. The charging procedure switch on the Sevcon and open the 420A path. You will recognize if you move your bike when charging the encoder adjustment/motor will make its "sound".
It is important to activate the charging-precedure (onboard charger or using the quick charger signal to start this) before you start your one system.

The bad experience I have all this wonderful new batteries have less "C". And also less as the % of capacity you will get more.

If you look all 2015 bikes have the newer cells and 10% more but not the FX. I believe you are not longer in a save area with the 10% more but maybe less "C".

But I also hope I can upgrade my FX once with enough C and a bit more distance - this would be awesome!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Clicking sound when plugged-in
« on: November 23, 2014, 10:00:09 PM »
I saw in the news that some parts of US have really problems with snow. Over here it is a bit like Spring.

It will be enough if you unplug the bike switch it on (light) and maybe drive sometimes a bit in the garage (we can do - we don't asphyxiate ;D)

I think it will be enough to trigger the charger again. I fear this clicking will exist at more bikes 2014 has different charger I only can guess Zero was not 100% satisfied (maybe clicking?)

I was unsure when I have build my system but I believe it will not harm and you hopefully won't have any issues.

Let us know what the dealer knows.

I know this sound!

The 2013 S/DS has 4 Meanwell HLG-32ßH-54 there are two parallel and those are in series.

I have 3 FX Sets (a FX has only two in series) => 6 Meanwells(MW) and have built one system with 4 MW like the S/DS and 2 MW original like a FX use it.

Theoretically the Meanwells can be used in parallel if the voltage adjustment is set correct (as equal as possible) but I had the experience that 2 of my Meanwell do exact that sound when in parallel. This two are now my 2 in series and the other 4 work in parallel without clicking.

If I am right the clicking will stop if the system really charge. Run your bike and replug the charger. Maybe the calibration has changed or the temperature maybe changed this.

I tried to open one but it is completely filled/moulded I don't think the clicking is a relay (this wouldn't be good) I think it is a current peak into a choke making this mechanical click.

I like tires like this more

http://en.reifenwerk-heidenau.com/modules/reifenliste/view.php?lang=en&point=5&rtyp=17&PHPSESSID=9303mpefeo6fceb1i0u50fe1i6&profil=102&pic=59

The salient point it the rubber mixture for cold weather not only the tread of the tire.

How do you deal with battery current?

The MBB will send the allowed "max current from battery" to your Sevcon - in best situation 500A with both batteries - There for you will only get 660A at a lower speed than it will be limited to 500A.
I think it will be awesome in this way - BUT - as I see from the battery data sheet 500A is over the specs. Even the 420A are a bit more as in the data sheet. I hope to get a positive long-term feedback that it will not damage your battery ;)

I do like your project still thinking to do the same

If you like you Zero(Sevcon) can do.

I post a part of the dcf-file of the Sevcon settings and you can see the red marked part is for switchin an analog-output.
I do the same when I use my stepless regen brake. This analog output will activate a relay that is parallel to the hand and foot brake light switch.

Since 2013 every thing is connected by CAN Therefore you really can get the data at one point. 2012 it was different.

Also the RS232 was pasword protected at 2012. You only got a simple start up information without PW.

2013+ has now 3 password levels but without you can also get some good information.
