SAE connector on SR/F
« on: April 14, 2020, 08:31:00 AM »

Hey all,

With the combination of stay-at-home order plus nearly a foot and a half of snow here in Colorado springtime, I tore my baby apart this evening.   ;D

I'm on the lookout for the fabled SAE connector for accessories and heated gear.  I don't see anything in the vicinity of the 12V battery:

Forward of the storage compartment, I did find the Sumitomo connector for accessories:

I figure I'll just get a Sumitomo connector to mate with that, and wire it to an SAE for my heated gear and also to my aftermarket horn.  Will probably raise the fuse to a 15A to avoid being cold for the rest of my ride because I honked the horn once.   :P

...but am I missing an SAE connector here, that I've read is standard on modern Zeros?

Thanks!

Well, there's one on my 2014, but I also have the 12v accessory socket.

It is a bit hidden on the SR/F bu you nearly found it.
It is on the left side of the bike. But it is hidden in black nylon ‘tubing’ or rather covering along some other wiring going down from the ‘tank’ along a vertical frame member going from where the tank and seat meet to the joining point of several frame members below

And I think a picture says more than a thousand words  8)

Or you could do what I did and instead of using a SPST relay for the horn, use a SPDT relay & route your heated gear through the N.C. & the horn through the N.O. contacts

The only issue I have is that I will have to reset my wireless controller if I toot the horn.

SPST = single pole/single throw
SPDT = single pole/double throw

Thank you so much, remmie!  Yup, there it was, tucked in exactly where you showed.   ;D

That's a fine idea!  I think I just may do that.   8)

Thanks!

Mentioned from Zeromanual: 12V Accessory Power Circuit (zeromanual)
Quote
Eastern Beaver makes motorcycle 12V circuitry parts including Sumimoto connectors:
Sumitomo TS090 Sealed Connectors

That was written for the S/DS platform. I would guess it stayed the same for SR/F SR/S
