Title: Changing tires

I finally got out and picked up a 27mm socket so I can change Turbo's slicks and put on my new street tires but I had some questions.

Flat lifts, like those J&S Jacks make, I am sure would work with this bike but is it safe to pick the bike up by the battery if you already moved the chargers under the tank? I ask because it looks like if I did put a flat jack under it the battery would take the weight not the frame.

What jacks are other people using to do their tire changes?

I have changed my tires on my ninja 250 for years but it has a center stand so it is really easy.

I have a lift big enough for my gold wing, I just use it.

Here is what I am using. It is a Drag Specialties jack with a 1000 pound capacity. It also works with my 2014 bike.

Can you torque bolts with it on the stand or do you have to let it down first?

When working with a vehicle on any stand, I always loosen the bolts first before putting the bike on the stand and then perform the final torquing of any bolts when the bike is back on the ground, unless the manufacturer's service manual's instructions say otherwise.  A motorcycle falling off of a stand will ruin your day.  However, the 2012 S is pretty stable when on the Drag Specialties stand.  The heavier, and less well balanced, front-to-rear, 2014 model, less so.
