Title: OEM replacement parts
Post by: ElectricZoro on February 09, 2021, 03:45:46 AM
Has anyone had any success in replacing any parts on an out of warranty Zero with OEM parts?

Will Zero sell you a replacement BMS or MBB or speed controller if they fail and your country has no dealer to do the install?

Which main components can be reused to resurrect the bike?

Sure?  But you need a dealer to have the training and parts.  You can buy parts - anyone can from a dealer - but the programming is proprietary.  There isn't a dealer in New Zealand but Sam of New Zeroland has done some big repairs.

I don't think you'll get much support out of country; import laws in your country can make it difficult.

The firmware update bricked my 2014 bike out-of-warranty in 2019 and they replaced it free.  I have a dealer to go to, tho.  I've replaced plastics and mirrors.  As long as you have a 2013-newer bike, the parts are available, tho sometimes not straight swaps (like the dash requires certain mainboards, the bms and mainboard have to be programmed for the particular battery monolith, etc).

You can buy OEM Zero parts here. (https://www.af1racing.com/Zero-Motorcycles-All-Models#/pageSize=100&viewMode=grid&orderBy=11&pageNumber=5)

Stuff such as a MMB will be a special issue as that involves programing to match your bike. I assume even your VIN number is in the MBB FW.
