H-D reminds me of the British motorcycle industry in the 1960. They had the market and then lost it because they would not innovate. When Honda came out with the CB750 it was basically over. I bought a new K4 model in 1974 after owning BSA and Nortons.
To me it looks like H-D is doing the same thing. If they had a small development program going that '78 H-D electric bike concept could have been developed and promoted when Harley was a lot stronger. Of course the same can be said for their Aermacchi, Buell, and V-Rod models.
I like Harley, bought a new Sportster and later a new Buell, but that was some 15 years ago and the world has changed and a manufacturer needs more than big V-Twins to promote. They also need practical, affordable, innovative bikes.
A LiveWire for $30K, - nope! Maybe under $20K they would have a winner. I suspect they spent too much developing it to make that happen since they now seem to need to make everything show a profit right out of the gate.
I could be wrong?
